Name Clarification[edit]

Might Bill Mahar be Bill Maher? Miegiel 15:40, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed it is. Fixed. Rob T Firefly 16:53, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article Title[edit]

Besides any argument about NPOV, the article title as it is just seems unprofessional; Are quotes really needed around "covers up"? Cacophony 15:09, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

if anything, quotes are needed around the "outing". Maher has not "outed", till wikinews can confirm that Mehlamn is indeed gay.  — Doldrums(talk) 15:14, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That seems sensible, but even the word "outing" is rather ambiguous, and I can't seem to think of a title that would reflect the situation without being overly awkward.
Now that I think about it, shouldn't the article be on Maher's comments, with a side note on CNN's actions, rather than vice versa? Cacophony 15:23, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would think it's the other way around, with the actual story being CNN's apparent coverup. Just "outing" someone really isn't news these days. True or not, anyone can "out" anyone, and it's just gossip. It's CNN's actions which make this interesting. Rob T Firefly 14:35, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the CNN retration was more interesting, Maher's been saying he was gay for a while now, as have other people. He always just avoids teh question whenver he is asked. Outing is infact the verb which describes what Maher did and doesn't need quotes. Yes, outing implies some evidence, but it doesn't imply absolute knowedge. Italic formatting cannot be nested over list items..[edit]

{{editprotected}}

In the quoted portion of the transcript, an attempt is made to place italics, over 2 list items.. This is bad HTML, Each list item should be formatted as italic individually. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:28, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
