Wasn't there reporting on last year's weather? Could draw from that to flesh this out.

  • This is quite marginal, imo.
  • It's three days old (would be four, but I'm allowing that the report was released in a timezone where it's still the 8th even though UTC it's the 9th); I'm not seeing new information come to light in the source dated the 6th, and honestly I'm finding the OR quite weak, not something that would extend freshness — two people of no apparent specific significance in the context of this story, out of many millions affected, saying things are bad.
  • More breadth of sourcing would be preferable, contemplating the footprint of msnbc sources here. I'm allowing, but reluctantly.
  • I didn't find anything supporting the point about affected states recovering. That seems odd; I feel I'm looking at a puzzle with a piece missing.
