Freshness

Although this is a good deal fresher than the article submitted last year (which was more than a week after the event), it's still five days old and I'm really hesitating over that. I'm not entirely sure, though — as best I can tell, there seems to have been no coverage of this story at all in the English media.

Hi. I think you did a terrific work editing the article. Although there is actually no coverage in the English media, the sources are reliable an show a consistent interest on the matter. I think that, as an independent media, Wikinews has to be able to open up possibilities for the information once it is reliable based on consistent sources, other way will always be "behind" the main stream media.--FiloActual (talk) 17:35, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

The lack of coverage in the English media is a big point in favor of treating the article as fresh; honestly, it's the only reason I'm considering it. (No real idea what I'll find when I do the source-check, which I hope to start now). --Pi zero (talk) 18:30, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm getting worried, though, trying to understand the dates involved. If this is five days old, that's pushing it but perhaps not pushing it too far; so, trying to understand why there's a source that appears to be for the event that's dated the 19th (I really need to understand exactly what it is that happened on the 28th). --Pi zero (talk) 18:51, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

The focal event needs to be something that happened in the past few days, but I'm not sure what, if anything, just happened that would be the focus here. We have a source from October 19 saying he was awarded this thing (at least, I think that's what it says; my Spanish is poor). That's three weeks ago, far too long ago for that event to be news. But we've also got something just published on the 28th, and I honestly can't work out why it appeared then. Did something just happen, and if so, what? For example, sometimes an award is announced ahead of time, and the announcement is an event that might be the focus of a news article, but then the award is actually given on a later date, and the actual giving of the award is another event that might be the focus of a news article. But I need to know what it is that happened recently, and I need to know how you know (is it in one of the sources, and if so, where in which source)? This needs to be cleared up, because until I know what happened recently, and when that was that it happened, I don't know how to tell whether or not this is fresh. Questions about the above? Ask. If possible, please address the above issues then resubmit the article for another review (by replacing {{tasks}} in the article with {{review}}). Completely overlooked the date-of-award in the source, which caused a lot of problems until I was told just where to find it; but I really like this story, and in the end it's got a focus within three days (or, at least, less than four days as judged in UTC). The reviewed revision should automatically have been edited by removing {{Review}} and adding {{Publish}} at the bottom, and the edit sighted; if this did not happen, it may be done manually by a reviewer.
