Credible?[edit]

I realize that this has been picked up by newspapers around the world, but who is this Adel al Ardawi? They credit him as a municipality spokesperson, but a Google search does not show him in connection with any other story. Is this how legitimate plans for a massive project like this would be disseminated to the press? I really think this is a case of wishful thinking or "thinking outside the box" by Adel al Ardawi. Sorry, I don't buy it. --SVTCobra 18:31, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Besides that, the article as written faithfully preserves the facts as stated in the sources. --SVTCobra 18:41, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe so...but they can have people draw up proposals. But also note that those proposals will not necessarily be accepted. All projects are wishful thinking at this stage no matter where you are. All this is, as it stands is a proposal, or an idea. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 00:30, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Funny you mention the names that doesn't turn up anything...I was just wondering Wikileaks was down and i did a trace route and came up with a name of someone in Kenya...lol. Reminded me of those spam e-mails I got. But anyways, in relation to this, search for his name and tell me what comes up...nothing really...but does that mean WL is not credible? DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 00:32, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You kinda lost me on the Wikileaks comparison, but it is irresponsible to report one man's dreams as an Iraqi plan, and that is what I suspect this is, despite the wide coverage. As such, I don't think we'd be reckless if we published, but I'd personally like it if we didn't didn't follow MSM like lemmings. --SVTCobra 00:43, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nonetheless, we went with the bigfoot articles...and look how that turned out. I don't think reporting on a nation's desire to have ideas is bad or what you describe. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 00:47, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well publishing the Bigfoot story also went against my 'better judgement', but yes it was fairly popular. But to explain the lemmings reference, it is a long-standing myth that these rodents (lemmings) jump off of cliffs to their deaths because their friends did it first. The myth was propagated by this video (Van Halen audio added later). --SVTCobra 01:02, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
