Draft[edit]

In future, @Heavy Water you may want to create a draft page in your user sandbox if it’s very incomplete like this—that way, if you end up quitting it, or it goes stale before completed, &c, one needn’t wait for an administrator to delete it. JJLiu112 (talk) 05:07, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I’d argue a rescinded tsunami warning (as in, something that DIDN’T HAPPEN) isn’t really headline-worthy; perhaps removed from the headline as something that didn’t come to fruition whilst the lede is updated to perhaps “the USGS briefly registered a tsunami warning” or similar. Done I agree and moved it. I will finish it. Heavy Water (talk) 22:52, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The article is Done. Apologies for the delay, I've been very busy. Heavy Water (talk) 15:18, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JJLiu112: I didn't use USGS. I think Al Jazeera updated. Heavy Water (talk) 03:15, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And I only see a 7.0 quake listed on USGS, the same as VOA reported. Heavy Water (talk) 03:18, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They all check out in agreement, so I propose to restore your revision of 03:07. Heavy Water (talk) 03:20, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Although I am very much a civilian rather than seismologist, the USGS does mention some uncertainty re the magnitude; 7.2 mi by two other measures. Perhaps revert with the inclusion of ‘the likely magnitude of’? Do keep the citation, though—it behoves to check the most updated data, and we can remove it at the end if unused. OK, that sounds good. Heavy Water (talk) 03:26, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Review of revision 4704025 [Passed][edit]

@JJLiu112: For the record, I did look up the WorldRiskReport to see what year that was, but I found it was in German and though therefore I should not cite it. Heavy Water (talk) 13:44, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

OK. For the record, we're not averse to foreign-language sources, it's just discouraged when it's the base of the article. --JJLiu112 (talk) 14:57, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
