Talk:Rail border between the Ukraine and Russia remains open

I searched both the Ukrainian and Russian railways in English and the other languages to see if they had any news on closures. I saw nothing regarding this. The official train websites which sell the tickets for travel between the country on long distance rail seemed to be the most important places to check, and this is largely the basis of the thing.

I am interested in this because I was chatting with User:Base on Skype last night. Four Wikinews reporters going to Sochi are going via train. (The tickets were posted to the planning mailing list.) See also Wikinews:2014 Sochi Paralympics and this and I believe Brian and pi zero had e-mails verifying this. Anyway, there is a concern if they will be able to make it. According to Base on Skype, the biggest issue is if the border stays open. (They are scheduled to depart via train on Thursday, arriving Friday. See also meta:Grants:PEG/WM UA/Wikimedians to the Games to verify they are leaving via train.) For me, it is Common Knowledge the Paralympic Games are in Sochi and start Friday.

I searched for Ukrainian and Russian news sources about the closure of the border issue. I found references in both languages to special things on the Ukrainian side of the border, but not regarding entering Russia. Hence, no mention of that.
