Talk:Swine flu worldwide: update
Add topicH1N1
[edit]I think we should focus on the difference between today's outbreak, and the pandemic of 1918. The AP reports might be less potent than the one in 1918. So maybe we should do an in-depth on fact VS fiction or something along those lines. This would be in the opening segment perhaps, or could be in-depth according to country/region. - Opps forgot to add AP link: [1]. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 04:06, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Another good focus would be maybe to do some research on the makers of face masks, and the profit they may or may not be making as a result. It is also a good note: Con artists and scammers are starting to get in on the action: FDA, FTC Warn Public Of Fraudulent 2009 H1N1 Influenza Products. Time this article was updated as H1N1 continues to spread around the world. Perhpas the spread is now slowing in North America, but it is certainly continuing to spread rapidly in Australia and other nations. I have included an Australia update below.

Australia update
[edit]Australia - 30 May 2009
Some experts are calling for shift from 'contain' strategy to 'sustain' strategy response to likely pandemic of H1N1 as number of confirmed cases in Australia exceeds 200, representing a 50% increase since yesterday, prompting concern new confirmed infections have started up an exponential curve. Over 3000 people in Victoria alone are in home-bound quarantine. Symptoms are generally mild, with no reported deaths.

The Australian Government has promised $7million for additional research in disease spread and control and has placed an order of 10 million doses of vaccine when it becomes available from Australian company CSL. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/05/29/2584998.htm

swine flu in swine
[edit]I think a separate article should be worked up about the first time swine flu has been discovered in swine (and it was in Alberta, a loong way from Mexico...) 76.66.202.139 14:57, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Er, what? They call it 'swine flu' because pigs have been getting it for decades - if not centuries. --Brian McNeil / talk 15:19, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
