Needs updating

[edit]

I do believe the tallies have increased significantly since the first reports. SVTCobra 14:15, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Support I can do this Thriftycat (talk) 14:38, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I expanded/updated the article with new information. Thriftycat (talk) 15:01, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Before I start a review, can I ask for a title which uses an active voice as per WN:NC. As the number killed is essential to the focal event, can we find a second source which confirms the number? If no two sources agree on an exact number, a range or the phrase "at least" can be used (people could still be succumbing in hospital due to injuries). Better to start the lede with when, rather than "during the invasion", especially as this is a counterattack. We should also differentiate between Belgorod Oblast and the city of the same name (and probably link all the cities mentioned). SVTCobra 19:43, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I didn’t write this article and I haven’t done much research myself, but I’ll do my best to go through these tasks Thriftycat (talk) 19:49, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I tried my best to do what you asked, and I will now move the page. Note that I cited a previous Wikinews article (linked in related section) for facts about the beginning of the war. Thriftycat (talk) 21:15, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@BigKrow: Can you review your most recent changes. At a glance, they appear to have broken some links and paragraphs. Cheers, --SVTCobra 22:53, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I know I messed it all up, sorry. BigKrow (talk) 23:38, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Belgorod is both in Ukraine and Russia? @SVTCobra BigKrow (talk) 23:54, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BigKrow: Belgorod is in Russia. Sources[1][2] identify it as Russian. The map showing it as Ukrainian is disputed on Commons, as noted by SVTCobra. So it's probably best not to use that image. Thriftycat (talk) 00:00, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
No. Only for two weeks was it under something similar to Ukraine. But that was in 1918/19 during the turmoil of the end of World War I and the Russian Revolution. Ukraine does not claim the city or oblast of Begorod. SVTCobra 00:05, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Thanks for fact checking! I was confused. BigKrow (talk) 00:06, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Belgorod?

border with Ukraine and Russia? BigKrow (talk) 23:56, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why does it say "on Ukrainian border with Russia"? BigKrow (talk) 00:02, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Maybe it should say 'near' not 'on' ... it's 40 kilometers (25 mi) from the border, but definitely within Russia. SVTCobra 00:10, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok. BigKrow (talk) 00:18, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
