- Thinking about it, you could also add a sidebar, such as {{Australia}} or {{LGBT}}, to the top of the article. Microchip08 (talk) 07:32, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
Free publicity?
[edit]Do we really want to give the WBC this extra publicity? They didn't actually picket the place; why should they bother, when we'll publish a news article to the entire planet trumpeting about what they didn't do? --Pi zero (talk) 12:15, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Comments by reviewer: To respond to concerns by Pi zero, the fact the school performed the play (apparently very successfully) seems to me like it would pass the car crash test as local news. The WBC adds a dimension to that, I can't remember if it was in our previous article or not but students were quite upset ('emotional') but also pleased to have provoked a reaction. In any event, while I share most of humanity's intense distaste for the WBC, it is incompatible with the interests of neutrality for us to dictate what news stories we will or will not carry simply because they provide coverage of parties we dislike. - For the record, I entirely agree with this assessment of the newsworthiness. --Pi zero (talk) 21:09, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Reporter's Notes
[edit]Email correspondence to Margaret River Senior High School (forwarded to scoop)
Sent Thursday April 3 2014
I am a journalism student from the University of Wollongong, and I have recently published an article on wikinews about Westboro's threats to picket your school's performance of the Laramie Project. I am preparing a second article to report on their failure to appear and wanted to give you the opportunity to comment on the lack of follow through. Also, could you please confirm for me that the attached image is a student performing and not a WBC member? The image was tweeted by the group with text to the effect of 'westboro pickets Margaret River High School'. I am also contacting WBC for comment and would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you
Received Thursday April 3 2014
Hi I can confirm that this is an image from the play and not a protest by the WBC. The WBC did not attend the school at anytime during the Play production

Email correspondence to Westboro Baptist Church (forwarded to scoop)
Sent Thursday April 3 2014
I'm a journalism student at the University of Wollongong in Australia. I'm writing an article about Westboro Baptist Church's comments last week regarding picketing Margaret River Senior High School's performance of The Laramie Project, and am hoping that the Church could provide some comments and insight about the matter. Ultimately, the question is: Why didn't the Church picket the performance as it said it would via its Twitter account? Also, I would like to know the Church's thoughts regarding comments made that Westboro would find themselves unwelcome in Australia? Thank you
Sent April 4 2014
Pursuant to my earlier email, I have several more questions regarding the Church's comments about picketing Margaret River Senior High School.
Firstly, last week, this appeared on the @WBCSays twitter account: "Westboro pickets Margaret River HS on 4/2/2014" - why didn't the Church picket the school on the date it said it would?
Secondly, earlier today, this appeared on the same twitter account: "Is tomorrow when Westboro Baptist will picket Margaret River High School? I think so! This is the message we bring >> bit.ly/UDUbF2". Is the Church aware that tomorrow is Saturday in Australia and the school will be closed?
Also, the school's performance of The Laramie Project was a one-off performance on April 2nd, so why picket the school now?
And lastly, the @WBCsays account tweeted a published photograph of the performance with the text "@WBCSays: Westboro Baptist Church pickets in Australia @LaramieProject - PHOTO: http://t.co/mEntHnpM3E cc: @theage @redditau @6PR @WAtoday @FairfaxWA" - why was this statement made when the Church failed to appear at the performance and the photograph is in fact a student performing as part of the play?
Thank you,
