No prob, you will make a great admin. → CGorman (Talk) 19:59, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Vandal[edit]

Thank you for your nice comments. Have all of his edits and pictures been reverted? Wikinews definitely needs more admins, Ryan524 and I keep getting caught in situations like this. Thank you very much for your vote, and once again, thank you for your nice comments. NGerda 16:21, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

Country of the week[edit]

I see country of the week seems to have died down a bit since I joined but I wondered if we could discuss nominating Rwanda for the week June 12? I will be out there (with web access) for a conference and have written a proposal for coverage on my talk page - Country of the Week might be the most practical way to make it happen: I will have a bunch of journalism students there, I can commit to writing material and there'll be an exciting youth conference going on. Rwanda has lots of interesting news for all the WN community to dig up. Please let me know what you think! ClareWhite 16:54, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thank You![edit]

Thank you very much for the nice greeting! Originally, I come from the German Wikinews edition (I think tis is noticeable by reading my bad english :)!But I am very interested to help here, too!

Best regards, Mg22 20:52, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hey, that was perfect German!

Schöne Grüße nach Mullingar in Irland! (=Best regards to Mullingar in Ireland!)

And:My French is bad, too!

That's nothing special, the Germans themselfes have problemes with the German Language! :) Mg22 21:42, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

awareness statistics[edit]

Thanks for keeping an eye on these statistics. I'm not sure that I interpret them correctly. Can you briefly give your opinion? -Edbrown05 20:42, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

That was a vague question of mine. Eloquence did the'State of the Wiki' report I was beginning to glance at again since it has evolved from my last looking. I'm interested in your POV. What's right, or what's wrong here. -Edbrown05 21:21, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Rwanda[edit]

Thanks very much for bringing it forward - that gives me a headstart before I venture into the unknown! I've started a temporary newshut which I hoped would help my group with it all. It's here, I seem to be having problems making links work at the moment: http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Rwanda_newshut. Anyway, hopefully you're busy chasing vandals but I hope you enjoy finding about Rwanda too! Best wishes, ClareWhite 07:53, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Welcoming vandals :o)[edit]

Y'know, you really should check the contributions of IPs before you welcome them - you welcomed a vandal this evening! Dan100 (Talk) 20:44, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

In fact you've welcomed several :-) Dan100 (Talk) 20:47, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wikinews coverage map[edit]

Great job with the Wikinews coverage map! It really helps in visualizing where we need to report more on. Where did you get your stats? And what program do you use to create these images? NGerda 21:13, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)

EAST TIMOR[edit]

The little country that was forgotten -> East Timor has no page and no category. It's been so long since ive done anything here, ive forgotten how to make a new cat page (did i ever know?). Please help, and then tell me how to do it for the future. ~The bellman | Smile 08:20, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I have a new proposal about the speedy deletion policy, i was woundering if you could comment on it, it's Wikinews:Water_cooler/policy#Speedy_Deletion_Policy_Addition, thanks.--Ryan524 16:41, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

lead story[edit]

ok, I see what you mean and you are 100% correct on this...especially about the g8 being more important. thanks Paulrevere2005 22:13, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Awareness Statistics[edit]

When I viewed the differences that you made, for some reason the only edit that showed up was that like was changed to l49ke. I am terribly sorry for the confusion, and I greatly appreciate your efforts at Wikinews:Awareness Statistics. NGerda 20:44, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

It wasn't the mouse, it was the database. NGerda 01:04, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

My blog[edit]

Just to let you know, I've moved it to Blogger so people can finally leave comments! Dan100 (Talk) 10:34, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

rwanda page lead[edit]

Woohoo! Thanks very much! ClareWhite xx

Thank you / Merci ![edit]

Thank you for your welcome message (C'est moi-même qui vous ai accueilli sur wikinews.fr!) I hope to do some useful work here (interwiki etc.); but I'll also try to steal some of your ideas to implement them on .fr ! Faager 12:08, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Can you take a look[edit]

at this please, and perhaps make some comments? I appealed for comments on the same issue a few weeks back but only recieved a limited response :-( Dan100 (Talk) 17:38, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Kettles and teapots and things :-)[edit]

I wouldn't say I get angry, although I guess it can look like that. I'd like to think it's more me being passionate about this site. I don't think a 'war' was going to happen - I consciously edit at times NGerda isn't around, which kept the temperature right down. Anyway, it could all be over with now. Dan100 (Talk) 12:19, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Im just a bit concerned that our collective energies are'nt being used to improve the wiki instead of arguing... seeing David leave earlier in the year really stunned me. → CGorman (Talk) 13:55, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Uploading stories[edit]

I've DPL'ed the main page, but to have somewhere to upload stories I made Wikinews:Story upload. (You might want to book mark the edit link). Just make sure {{publish}} is on your story somewhere and it'll get on the main page. I've put a full explanation of everything I've done on the Watercooler under technical Dan100 (Talk) 28 June 2005 12:35 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

Dear Gorman: Hi! Thank you for your welcome! It reminded me of Maverik's welcome at wikipedia three years ago, very warm and nice. Mainly the reason I came was that wikipedia was down and I needed to break the news of the six bodies found at the Yuma, Arizona house.

Im a Puerto Rican that enjoys other cultures. I love Ireland even as I have never been there. I have learned a lot about there, Aer Lingus is a fabulous company, Barry McGuigan one of my favorite boxers of all time (remember when he put a trouncing on another one of my all time favorites, Eusebio Pedroza??? I scored that fight 150-134 for Mc!!! 15 rounds to 0 in my card, with a point reduced from Pedroza for falling in round seven!) The beer is excellent, I loved that movie about the Ned that died after hitting the lottery (cant remember the movies name right now), the beer, the Celtic culture (although Im a Christian), everything. You guys have a tremendous culture, you should be very proud of the Irish! Actually, my favorite NBA basketball team are the (Boston) Celtics! LOL!

That said I want you to know Im down with the Irish as they say here in the USA which is good. Your country is great and you sound like a great guy too. Thanks for the welcome!

Sincerely yours, your wiki-friend, Antonio Martin
