Mrmiscellanious/Archive1, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! → CGorman (Talk) 20:41, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Please check out Wikinews:Audio Wikinews

I'd love to work with folk about putting together podcasts of news, and I've started some of this, but I know I have a lame voice and equipment. (I also know nothing of podcasting) Check out the page, add whatever you think should be added, and let's get started! - Amgine/talk 00:34, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for jumping in there... will continue the conversation. I've added some stuff, too. - Amgine/talk 01:36, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Sweet! Loud, for me... I think my system is terminally low-volume recording.

How do you get the loop to work? What software are you using to record? - Amgine/talk 21:01, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Latest installment

Cool job! you sound so relaxed... I need to practice that. - Amgine/talk 22:17, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Do you IRC?

If so, please join #wikinews. Or use the link at the top of the page "Real-Time Chat" to join using a webpage. I'd like to chat with you. - Amgine

Audio Wikinews

Yeah, we need to let this be well known by having an administrator add an infobox on the main page (it could include Wikinews Vdeo and Print, too). NGerda 03:53, 15 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The new version Redge is working on has a link to all three. --Cspurrier 14:05, 15 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Amgine wants to know if you can get on Wikinews IRC so we can talk about Audio Wikinews. NGerda 18:00, May 15, 2005 (UTC)

Print Edition on Commons?

It is hosted on my server for two reasons, the first is I wanted to be able to use fair use,(non-issue with the new fair use policy), the second reason is that I wanted it to be downloadable in poth PDF and SXW. I wanted to ensure that it can be downloaded in a free easily editable format, since in is created in SXW is the logical choice. However Commons does not support SXW, if wikinews does enable SXW support then I can start uploading it to Wikinews. --Cspurrier 15:56, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

Audio Wiki News

how is your audio wikinews work, do you need a steaming server, i can provide one.--Ryan524 01:08, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your nice comment

Thanks for your nice comment -- I'm getting MORE relaxed, but I'm not entirely at ease. --Chiacomo 15:40, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Audio Wikinews 'Music'

I have downloaded Audacity and would like to start reading the news. I'd like to know where you get the backgroud music from. It isn't "Rave Wave" anymore. --Munchkinguy 04:02, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind comments. I have sped my first newsbrief up a bit; NGerda said it was too slow. Now I think I might have made it too fast. Should I revert it? --Munchkinguy 02:35, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Unapproved Vacation

You didn't submit the proper forms for your vacation... If you do go, you'll have to settle for unpaid leave. Don't take it out on me -- talk to personnel. Of course, if you can find something to write about while you're travelling, perhaps you can expense the whole vacation! Have a great break... ;-) --Chiacomo (talk) 19:12, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

An invitation...

I'm attempting to start up a new edition of Wikinews, one with a simpler user contributions system at m:Wikinews/Start a new edition#Open English. The goals of this project would be to simplify the process of submitting articles such that anyone with no knowledge of the Mediawiki software or the Wikimedia projects culture can easily understand and submit an article, and immediately see it on the main page developing articles section.

If you would be interested in supporting this project I would be pleased if you would sign up at the Meta page.

Waxman story

I was taking a crack at it when you put on the tag. Have another look when you can. Best regards -Edbrown05 05:33, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, you're now an accredited Wikinewsie. Go out and get those media badges now ;) -- IlyaHaykinson 02:31, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Yo, dude, I'm bored. Skype me. -- NGerda 19:37, July 23, 2005 (UTC)

Template: Audio

There is already a template for Audio Wikinews (see {{AW}}). --Mrmiscellanious 19:05, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Audio has a different purpose than Template:AW. Audio is meant as a near-EXACT reading of a specific article. AW is meant to refer readers to an AW story which features the same topic, but is not an exact reading of the the text. -- Davodd | Talk 23:31, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Audio Wikinews Full Reports are verbatim readings of Wikinews articles. -- NGerda 23:44, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

Hey Mr. M.! I just got my iBook back from Apple (was having video display issues), and my basement studio is in construction once again. I'll see you in IRC and Skype in about 15 minutes, bro. -- NGerda 18:02, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations! You're now a Wikinews administrator. You now have the pleasant, pleasant responsibility of cleaning up after users who do bad things, monitoring the deletion process, and editing protected pages. :) Thanks for agreeing to do this — and good luck! -- IlyaHaykinson 04:55, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Congrats. -- Davodd | Talk 05:00, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pig Gig

Great article! You're going to publish on the main page, right? Also, good move on the "detainee" article -- even though they're apparently going to transfer detainees from places other than Gitmo.. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:14, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mr. M! I'm back in The O.C. now. Love to talk with ya! -- NGerda 00:29, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Welcome message

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been working over on wikipedia for a while now and one of my projects there was News sources on wikipedia. I came over here (wikinews) to put in some links to this resource. I decided against creating a clone of the resource on wikinews as it would create twice the maintenance work. I think I'll probably constrain my work here to promoting NPOV through the way resources are organised.
