International users who want to be a part of the reporting by sending us your pictures and such, please tell us where you are attending and what type of media equipment you will be using.

If you are participating in the protest, any interviews that you do are not allowed as it is against policy, is a conflict of interest and against ethics.

Editor at Large. Contact about 5 days prior to protest to see if available. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 02:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Elias81@hushmail.com - attending the edinburgh protest. Should be taking pics and probbly video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.41.93.1 (talk) 08:04, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please be aware ...

[edit]

It would be unethical to be a participant in the protest while also reporting on it. It would be a major conflict of interest. Cheers --SVTCobra 16:08, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

A very good point. Wikinewsians reporting on the event should not be "anonymous" and should simply go to record what occurs. Cirt 16:14, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Accredited reporters should also probably wear their Press Pass. It may help you if you get into any tight situations. --Skenmy(tcw) 18:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Another very good idea. Cirt 19:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Los Angeles

[edit]

Hai...I'm kinda new to Wikipedia (as a user, not as a reader) but keen to get involved -especially with Wikinews. Altho I suppose I'm on the side of Anonymous, I will be going to the Los Angeles protest with a pro cameraman and as a 'liaison' for a reporter from the LA Times (Joel Sappell who co-authoured a six part series on Scientology in 1990). I will also be taking my own 35mm SLR and digital camera.

[edit]

As much as I support the protest, I'm only going to be filming it. 76.1.180.28 04:08, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

I will shoot with pro video equipment (and interview if that's determined to be neutral). -SparkleTelevision 21:59, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Interesting video compilation

[edit]

Anonymous pre 2-10 Scientology raid mashup - sort of gives a sense of the scope of the issue, recent events, and of February 10. Cirt 15:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

NBC quotes Anonymous - over 300,000 set to protest

[edit]

Check it out. Cirt 01:35, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well if they can say a nearly for sure 300,000 then we can probably double or triple that number to include those who are not affiliated with Anonymous. Then add about 100,000 or so for reporters and cameramen and bystanders and etc.....wow...this could be quite a mess. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 01:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I hadn't even thought about all those auxiliary people, true. Cirt 01:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Or as the case often is, anon. is over estimating there numbers to make them sound cooler, and to try and attract more people + the people who say they are going to show and don't, etc its probably not going to be that big. Bawolff 05:10, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
There is actually some speculation over at alt.religion.scientology, I guess we shall just have to wait and see... Cirt 05:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't know...this has gotten worldwide attention...and WN just enhanced that attention by the article Brian and I did. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 05:38, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Photography laws

[edit]

David Shankbone (talk · contribs) posted this at Wikinews:Water cooler/technical, but it is very relevant here as well:

Excellent article that gives you the technical laws and resources of what you can photograph and what you can publish in the United States, which is the only law relevant to our U.S.-based servers.

Read up on this before going to take pictures for February 10. Cirt 17:01, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
