[edit]SusanLesch, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!–Doldrums(talk) 09:55, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Hello. Thanks for your contributions to After much contention Al Franken wins Minnesota Senate seat. Unfortunately, Wikinews does not use the cite.php citation style. I have reverted your additions for now. However, if a source supports what you added, please added using the {{source}} template. Please do so only if that source was published on the date the article on Wikinews was published. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 is the date the article on WN was published so only sources with a Tuesday, June 30, 2009 or earlier dateline are acceptible. If you want, you may create another article, such as Minn. Gov. Pawlenty signes Franken election certificate or similiar. PS: I assume you are from Minn. too; it's always nice to see another Minnesotan on WP or WN. Calebrw (talk) 06:05, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. Yes I was reading up on Wikinews citation style. Yes all events are sourced to the same date. I'll try again. Thanks and sorry to mess up the citations. -SusanLesch (talk) 06:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for looking into this policy. If you wish to work towards become an editor, I suggest becoming familiar with all Wikinews:Policies and guidelines. Calebrw (talk) 06:28, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also, don't worry about messing up too much. We have all done it, even us Admins. However, it doesn't look so good to have this as your only contribs and then wanting to be an Editor. Keep working though. I know my first contribs weren't the best. Calebrw (talk) 06:30, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not worried. But thanks for worrying. :-) Anyway I added what I wanted to add. It looks fine. -SusanLesch (talk) 06:33, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Much better, but still needed a few improvements (read minor tweaks). Please see those changes for future reference. Also see the RfP Editor thing you posted as there some comments I made. Calebrw (talk) 06:39, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Um, yes I read your comments, answered your posts here, and I'm done. See ya! -SusanLesch (talk) 06:41, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, please stop adding to this article from June 30. Thanks. --SVTCobra 08:55, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Surely, no problem. The sources are all from the day it was written. How would you like it to be fixed? -SusanLesch (talk) 08:59, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- At this point, it really can't, short of writing a new article. (Minn. Gov. Pawlenty signes Franken election certificate was the example I used earlier) Calebrw (talk) 14:11, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

My request for editor status
[edit]With all due respect, is your neutral vote some sort of revenge...? –Juliancolton | Talk 04:52, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, Juliancolton. No it is not revenge--that would have been likely an oppose. I expect you will pass easily, and thought we were quite close in contributions here so I said what I thought. Hope that's okay. -SusanLesch (talk) 05:40, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Thanks for the response. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:46, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi. When citing scientific papers, we use a different source template. See {{Source-science}}. Cheers. Bawolff ☺☻ 05:48, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Bawolff, thanks! -SusanLesch (talk) 05:53, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Concerned
[edit]I noticed some of the comments that you made (and then removed) on your user page. It led me to think that you believe that you have been discriminated against by the Wikinews community. I sincerely hope that is not true. If it is, then it is something that the community should be made aware of and discuss. Cheers, --SVTCobra 02:19, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
