With few exceptions, nearly all of my work will be copy-editing. If any of my ce's change the meaning, please inform me on ways I can fix this. Thank you.

(Also, I'm terribly new, so I'm liable to screw something up that a normal editor would never think about doing ;-)

Welcome[edit]

Xavexgoem, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Finally, you've moved into the wiki from IRC. -- Danger^Mouse (talk) 08:51, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"copy-edit"[edit]

Just wanted to say that the restructuring you did to the article I recently started really makes a lot more sense, and is a big improvement. Thanks. Jade Knight (talk) 13:57, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Micheal Jackson[edit]

I have taken the liberty of Micheal Jackson's speculation, help required in Michael Jackson speculated to have converted to Islam with Thanks Azamishaque (talk) 06:07, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects[edit]

The reason the redirect you created (then got deleted) didn't work is because you didn't put the two square brackets around the link.

Fox example #REDIRECT [[Portal:Venezuela]] will work, while #REDIRECT Portal:Venezuela will not

Thanks,

...I knew that... ;-) Xavexgoem (talk) 17:10, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have promoted you to the Wikinews:Editor class, as I feel you can be trusted to mark revisions of articles as sighted (review). Take a moment to read:

Review[edit]

Hi. When publishing an article you need to place the {{Peer reviewed}} template on the talk page of the article that you are reviewing. Could you please place this template on the article you recently published? Thanks:). Gopher65talk 01:35, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you:). That was fast. Gopher65talk 01:46, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Busy elsewhere? We understand, but this is a notice of privilege expiry!

Note! Your privileges on English Wikinews have been reduced.

Under the Privilege expiry policy (enacted October 13, 2012) the rights held by your user account have been reduced due to inactivity, or lack of privilege use. You can view your user rights log here.
Point 4 of the Privilege expiry policy provides for fast-tracking reacquisition of privileges. We all understand that real-life commitments can severely curtail the level of commitment you can give to Wikinews; the privilege reduction is in no way intended as a reflection on your past work, or to imply you are unwelcome. The aim in curtailing privileges is to address security risks, and concern that a long period of inactivity means you may not be up-to-date with current policy and practices.
