A Featured article exemplifies our very best work and is distinguished by professional standards of writing, presentation and sourcing.

In addition to meeting the requirements for all Wikinews articles, it has the following attributes.

Featured articles should, at a minimum:

  1. Be formatted correctly (including sources)
  2. Have pictures (they should make a good visual impression)
  3. Be well-written (see style guide)
  4. Cover the news event comprehensively, and without rambling
  • In addition, we should try to choose articles that were worked on by several editors, to highlight the collaborative nature of Wikinews. We should also make an effort to find the best examples of original reporting: scoops exclusive to Wikinews, extensive coverage, and excellent research.
