Chelsea to delay Jadon Sancho transfer as Frank Lampard targets new striker.

Chelsea were reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign Jadon Sancho :

Chelsea have shelved their plan to sign Jadon Sancho in January as Frank Lampard wants the club to prioritise a new striker, according to reports. Sancho is one of the most in-demand young players following his sublime performances for Borussia Dortmund and has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. Last month, reports claimed that Chelsea were close to finalising a £120 million deal with Dortmund for the 19-year-old . But according to The Sun , Chelsea have cooled their interest in completing a deal for Sancho this month and are prepared to wait until the summer to make their move. The report claims that Lampard believes his squad are currently well stocked in wide areas and has urged the club to focus on signing a new striker to ease the pressure on Tammy Abraham. Lampard has repeatedly voiced his concerns about Chelsea’s inability to finish their chances during matches and his side are in danger of slipping out of the top four having won just three of their last nine Premier League games. Abraham has scored 12 Premier League goals this season, while Olivier Giroud wants to leave Stamford Bridge and Michy Batshuayi has attracted interest from Aston Villa following Wesley’s long-term injury. RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Lyon forward Moussa Dembele are two names on Chelsea’s shortlist. Although Lyon have already insisted that they have no plans to sell Dembele this month. Chelsea have reportedly submitted a £34m offer for the 23-year-old, who has scored 10 goals in Ligue 1 this season. :
