Mark-up toolbox
[edit]Why can't I see the mark-up toolbox below the edit window? How can I format links to Wikipedia then? --Eleassar777 17:07, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- If you can not use the toolbox you have to manually insert the appropriate tag. One reason why you colud not see the tollbar may be that your browser does not support Javascript or has it disable or its Javascript is not compatible with this system. FOr a list of the tags and help about editingg you can cosult the help page about editing AnyFile 21:54, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Image won't show
[edit]I uploaded an image to Media Commons entitled Image:Flowerfestival.JPEG but it won't show when I link to it from WikiNews? Any suggestions? E. C. De Laurentiis 22:37, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I fixed it. The problem was you were trying to embed Flowefestival.jpeg when it should have been .JPEG. Easy mistake Dan100 (Talk) 22:41, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
French or German/English translater needed
[edit]I received the email below in my attempts to interview the famous holocaust survivor, Peter Gingold. Can anyone translate a short couple of paragraphs for me as well as the response I get back? Paulrevere2005 18:23, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
Dear Mister Revere,
Peter Gingold is reachable by E-Mail. His address is:
320022439557-0001@t-online.de
I think it will be better to write to him in french or german language because I'm not quit sure he is firm in english.
Best regards Dr. Ulrich Schneider VVN-BdA Hessen
- I volunteer. Just send me your questions via mail [1]. I'll send back the translated paragraphes to you. The german wikipedia article about Peter Gingold says that he is now living in Frankfurt. --SonicR 19:07, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
- I speak German - e-mail me (alternative: capnez AT gmx DOT at) everything you want to have translated to German. --Capnez 19:11, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
- Just an update; the translation process is working great :) Holocaust hero and activist, Peter Gingold, did respond and suggested we contact his lawyer for documents and updates (related to his civil suit)which we are in the process of doing. Paulrevere2005 12:00, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Categories for articles
[edit]Where can one discuss the categories presented on the front page (such as "Crime and law" for articles? Mr. Jones 06:21, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Here, but they're pretty much fixed - they evolved through consensus, and everyone's happy with them (as far as I know) Dan100 (Talk) 16:34, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Consensus amongst whom? So the discussion is in the history for this page? Shouldn't there be a namespace for such discussion as at http://meta.wikipedia.org ? Mr. Jones 19:28, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Readers
[edit]Can someone direct me to some readership figures? The stats page figure doesn't seem to be working (it says 0). Thanks ClareWhite 14:33, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- You'll be wanting to look at Wikinews:Awareness statistics. The RSS feed currently has 1,100 readers. The stats page has never worked :-(. Dan100 (Talk) 15:31, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
