Time for reporting at Wikinews

Hi,

I am new to Wikinews and would like to contribute some aticles. I have gone through Wikinews:Writing an article. In this it is mentioned that news should be current.

I would like to know what is exactly meant by current news. Moreover, while writing the article there is a template Tuesday, July 2, 2013. What date should be quoted ?

Thanking you,

Current, for synthesis reporting, generally means the news happened and it was reported on by other news organizations in the past 48 hours. This 48 hour window also has to allow a window for review. (So it needs to happen in the past 48 hours, have the English Wikinews story written in the past 48 hours and then be reviewed in that window.) There is some leeway for original reporting. --LauraHale (talk) 08:46, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you LauraHale

Peter Doig exhibition

I have an invite to the press preview, at the Scottish National Gallery, of Doig's No Foreign Lands exhibition.

That is on August 1st, there is an opening lecture/interview with the artist on August 3rd, and the "curator's tour" for the public is on the 5th. I think I could do with a film crew, rather than just a photographer. :P

Open on ideas how to approach this one; any photographs, or footage, showing Doig's work cannot go on Commons. --Brian McNeil / talk 07:57, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment This is where we interface with the 'arts world'. I owe David Shankbone an enormous debt of gratitude for giving me the confidence to speak to artists. Peter's photo is now on his Wikipedia article, there's a need for Wikipedians to know what we can do..
