GNews

Are articles presently being pushed to GNews? The last two don't appear to have turned up on {{popular articles}} at all, which is unusual. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 09:44, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Last I thought I understood from bawolff, the stats drawn on by {{popular articles}} were 24 hours out of date, so that the template was telling what was popular 24 hours ago. Could that be skewing things? --Pi zero (talk) 13:35, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's possible. I knew the stats were gradually slipping back for some reason, but no that they'd gotten that bad. What sort of pageviews are typical these days? The last two have only shown up in the last few hours and are still fairly low. Not sure, however, if that's par for the course atm or a sign of a problem. Honestly, I haven't been tracking them lately. --Pi zero (talk) 14:39, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever's happening is complicated; two of the last three are missing, one is there however. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 14:48, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Stats are now increasing, however,so it seems reasonable to conclude the initial pageview question was just delayed statistics. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 18:06, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The source of the stats now take longer to generate. The bot code is pretty old, and if the most recent hour isn't available yet, the bot looks at yesterday's stats instead (Which really isn't good). That said, I wonder how much google news actually contributes to our page views. My bet would be not that much. Bawolff 18:37, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
