Just musing...........

Firstly: I've only briefly come out of 'retirement' in any general sense here recently, after which I've climbed back into my Hobbit hole. But: we have got to get more people reviewing here, we really do. Basically: one person does 97% of all of it.....then there are a couple of concentric circles which consist of talkers/doers/helpers/pot-stirrers etc., then there are some grossly ego-driven noobs on the outer fringes (hey! I was one of them myself once-upon-a-time!) who are around here for 34 minutes then run away, because they thought they were doing us a huge favor by just showing up. Yes: the world is ensconced in a pile of weirdness right now, but this was an issue 2 years ago. Anyhoo: I've got more going on than I can say grace over in my life AND this is a volunteer endeavor, so there's that. --Bddpaux (talk) 22:43, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See analysis at Wikinews:Admin action alerts#Open request for adminship regarding promotion of reviewers, and Wikinews:Flagged revisions/Requests for permissions#DannyS712 (talk · contribs – Edit rights) for a recent request --DannyS712 (talk) 22:52, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just because we need more reviewers doesn't mean we start handing out the rights to others. One way non-reviewers can help is by writing articles which are easier to review, helping the reviewer. And that would also show the author might be a good candidate to be a reviewer. One of the ways you can check if an author is not ready for the reviewer bits is by looking at the issues that arose while their articles were being reviewed.
