Please help us

Hi, Spanish Wikinews're interested in activating the tab "comments"as you have it in their articles, but we could not, could any of you help please? --MadriCR (talk) 22:53, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes of course. Are you available on irc? Bawolff 22:54, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just wondering to see if anyone can help, we will notify an administrator to talk to you, sorry, do not speak English very well :# --MadriCR (talk) 23:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IPs creating articles

Most of the time when IPs create articles, they look like this, which are completely nonsense. They also take a long time to go through the deletion process. My proposal is to remove the right of creating articles from them, and only let members with a account create articles (making IPs unauthorized). I'm not sure if this is possible, but I know Wikipedia uses this. --Nascar1996 (talk • contribs) 15:58, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

It is technically possible to turn off page creations for IPs. However, I don't think this is a good idea. Sometimes IP pages are actually constructive once in a while, and it doesn't take any effort to delete inappropriate contributions. We don't have a lot of users right now, I'd say we need all the help we can get. Tempodivalse [talk] 16:16, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to Tempo's comments, another problem is that people determined to post rubbish would just create an account anyway. We may as well leave the IPs with the right; the benefit is small compared to the harm. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:20, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
IPs are only disabled on WP in the event of vandalism, in which case articles are moved so only autoconfirmed users can edit them. Removing the right of all IPs to edit Wikinews would absolutely go against the Wikispirit of "Anyone can edit". No way, no how, never gonna happen, uh-uh, forget it. BarkingFish (talk) 16:39, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean remove all their rights. Just the one to create articles. They would still be able to edit articles after they have been created, but they wouldn't be able to create a article on their own. --Nascar1996 (talk • contribs) 16:44, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Wikinews has Flagged Revisions, there is no need to remove page creation rights from anonymous users. --Brian McNeil / talk 13:03, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Old news creation

Proposal:

Wikinews should allow the creation of historical news articles, which uses news sources from the time the event occurred. This could allow Wikinews to become a news archive, usuable for research purposes on past events, with a view towards views of events from the period in which they occurred (as opposed to current views and current commentary on events). It should be noted that Wikipedia does not allow articles on news events, so these historical news events are deleted from Wikipedia even if they use current sources.
