Long, long ago........

...in a land not too far away, someone had enabled a tool via the Wikimedia Toolserver. When a regular type fellow like myself viewed a user's page, at the bottom, the option,"View articles created" was there. I loved that tool.....but now it's expired here. It's fun to watch a person's "evolution" re: their contributions here. Anyone know how to re-awaken that tool, 'cause I don't how! --Bddpaux (talk) 21:32, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you can find the source code (i.e. who wrote it), then it can go on the just-being-set-up Wikinewsie.org toolserver. Yes, by the middle of this coming week we'll have a Dalek at our disposal. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:46, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I could have done with one of those when I was about nine or ten years old, to deal with playground bullies. --Pi zero (talk)
Okey-dokey......does this help? https://wiki.toolserver.org/view/~soxred93/ec --Bddpaux (talk) 03:22, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A fabulous human being from the other project has resurrected my favorite tool!!!!! --Bddpaux (talk) 03:32, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Test the patience of the Dalek

Sorry, could not resist.

dalek.wikinewsie.org is now in-service, and the Bot running on it requires some shakedown-testing to reassure folks, and get it voted into activity.

"What does it do?" I hear you ask. Well, at the moment, it's handling media uploads via Dropbox. Luara Hale has set up a shared dropbox for the Paralympics, and will be dumping images, audio and video into that for reporting from the Games. NewsieBot will, if stuff is put in the right folder, pick it up and post it here, or to the Journo's Workspace. And, it'll happily chomp through audio/video that isn't in a free format, convert it to the right formats for here, then upload it.

Several people have been given access to the Dropbox folders, please do some tests!.

Despite the server name, this is an environmentally friendly bot; it's in an Icelandic Datacentre which runs off geothermal power. Give it a few years and the MWF will wise-up to that angle. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:42, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Super kewl!! Looking forward to trying it out!! --Bddpaux (talk) 18:29, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback??

Y'know, as a reviewer, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but I'm not totally certain I fully understand rollbacks. Some users, when you look at their edits, you might see, "Rollback last 4 edits." Can I get a little primer on rollbacks, please??--Bddpaux (talk) 18:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clicking on the rollback button will revert (without asking for confirmation!) the page to the last version. It undoes all edits by the most recent editor, until it gets back to the first version by someone else. So if you rolled back my edits to this page, this comment would vanish. And if you clicked rollback now, both this comment and the one I just made above would be removed instantly. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:47, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox?

Is it hard to make an Infobox? Maybe I need to find out!! --Bddpaux (talk) 14:06, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
