Additional interface for edit conflicts on talk pages
Sorry, for writing this text in English. If you could help to translate it, it would be appreciated.
You might know the new interface for edit conflicts (currently a beta feature). Now, Wikimedia Germany is designing an additional interface to solve edit conflicts on talk pages. This interface is shown to you when you write on a discussion page and another person writes a discussion post in the same line and saves it before you do. With this additional editing conflict interface you can adjust the order of the comments and edit your comment. We are inviting everyone to have a look at the planned feature. Let us know what you think on our central feedback page! -- For the Technical Wishes Team: Max Klemm (WMDE) 14:14, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
LQT vs nuke
Admins, note: When using Special:Nuke, avoid deleting any pages in thread space (or, to be safe, comments space). I nuked a user's pages the other day that included a thread, and although the pages were all deleted the thread was still listed on the contents of the comments page. It only got worse from there; wouldn't swear to every detail but it went something like this: The same spammer reposted, creating another thread, and in the process asked hey how come the old one is still listed. So I deleted that one using the delete option within LQT, hoping that would clear the directory, but it didn't so then I tried undeleting the other thread and re-deleting it, hoping that would clear it, but ended up with a corrupted threads-directory on the comments page and one of the threads was somehow actually lost out of the database, as far as I could tell. I tried deleting then undeleting the comments page, but that didn't clear the directory. Finally I moved the comments page to a different name without leaving a redirect, deleted it under the different name (thus burying the corrupted threads directory with it), and created it fresh under the old name; which fortunately I could do because there weren't (afaict) any threads on the comments page in the first place. --Pi zero (talk) 21:21, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Deleting threads is notoriously difficult and does not always work. Sometimes, all you can do is just close a thread and remove it from view but it's still accessible if someone has the direct URI. :/ —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 21:37, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
