Notes to reviewer[edit]

Sections will be removed[edit]

I will remove the sections before submitting for review. They are there now as a bit of scaffolding. Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 02:32, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note for reviewer: Identical companion bill[edit]

The fact that HR932 is identical to S316 is important in the US bill-making process. Only identical bills that have already passed both houses of Congress individually can then be voted on the both houses simultaneously. S316 is officially identified by CRS as having an identical relationship with HR932.[1] S316 has already passed the Senate. Therefore if/when the House passes HR932, it will be much closer to being presented to both houses than if S316 hadn't already been passed as an identical, companion bill.[2] Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 16:13, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

date....[edit]

nothing new happening to this article, please watch for abandonment.... Thanks. 64.39.81.54 (talk) 21:59, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm still tracking the story. As you said, no significant developments have occurred other than additional co-sponsors coming on board. It's up to 35 sponsors now. It only had 4 when the Senate bill passed. The House bill is still in committee and has not been advanced for a floor vote.
@Heavy Water, @SVTCobra, is it better to start articles like this as a subpage/sandbox? My intent was to signal to other editors that I'm interested in covering the story (alone or with others) and I hoped the bill would move quicker. I didn't think the draft would sit idle for this long.

One alternative is to use Wikinews:Story preparation. Cheers, SVTCobra 14:01, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Doh, and I was looking at the 2021 version of the bill. Yep, still in committee. Heavy Water (talk) 14:02, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Moving forward[edit]

I will be busy until April 25th and don't anticipate having much time, if any, to work on this article. Should something newsworthy happen and you are interested in completing the article, please help yourself. Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Published) 15:10, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template warning[edit]

I noticed today while previewing some changes to this article that the {{United States}} template, when included, forces the following error:

Warning: This page calls Template:Infobox which causes a template loop (an infinite recursive call).

For the time-being I have that infobox linked instead of transcluded, which removes the error.

I don't know how (or if I even have appropriate access) to see what the infobox is doing to cause a loop. I'm assuming (hoping) it's something to do with being in Story Prep...

At any rate, If someone else decides to publish this story, be sure to change the link to the proper transclusion syntax.

It's something we've been seeing for a while, including in mainspace, but it has no apparent detrimental effects. Heavy Water (talk) 16:05, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Status[edit]

??? BigKrow (talk) 00:42, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No change in status. I'm following the bill and will update the article as necessary. Yesterday another co-sponsor was identified but the bill has not been put to vote yet.
For some reason I did not get pinged about your message here. This talk page is is on my watchlist. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Stale[edit]

Reuters is reporting the following:[3]

Talks between the United States and Iraq on ending the U.S.-led military coalition in the country may not be concluded until after the U.S. presidential election in November, a senior Iraqi government official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

I have the content saved offline. I'll use it to develop a new article once there is something worth reporting.
