Why?[edit]

We do not need this and personally I think its hideous. The comments tab we have now is visible by anyone including IP addresses/anonymous users. Before this is added to any article, it needs to be discussed. It is nearly overstepping the bounds of NPOV and I for one am against anything of this sort being placed on any article. Wikinews blog is not hosted on a Wikimedia Foundation site, and is also not Wikinews per-se. Wikinews policies cannot be enforced over there. We have policies here, and they have to be followed. DragonFire1024 15:38, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This template only links to the comments page which is specifically for people's opinions. Is your problem with this template or the suddenly the comments tab??? --86.136.127.238 15:41, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We have no need to have a hideous box to direct users/readers to comments page when we already have a tab that is viewable to everyone. I do not mind the comments tab, which is borderlind violating NPOV. The box just outright violates NPOV altogether. The goal of Wikinews is news and items related to such, without inserting our Point Of View on the situation. period. DragonFire1024 15:48, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The comments page it realtively underused and in order to get more reader involvement this is like a slight advert. It in no way violates NPOV as it doesnt affect the balance of the article in any way. It not like the box changes the bias of the article it just invites people to give their opinion on a different page. Again the article is a link, just the same as linking to another news article that has a slight bias. You going to get rid of every link to bias here?!?!?! Also if you think the thing is so "hideous" then change it - this is a wiki!!!!! --86.136.127.238 15:53, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe we do need this to increase participation in the site. It may need some work to make the template a bit better - and perhaps a bit smaller, but we should encourage use of the comments sections. --Brian McNeil / talk 16:39, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note for historical reference, people may wish to examine {{xt}} and more imporantly its talk page. Bawolff 18:11, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the comments tab should be eliminated and superseded by this template which would be placed automagically with the coincidence of publication at the bottom of each article. -4.136.102.88 02:35, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Possible, but easier to just use the tab which is always at the top. There is no way to enforce this template being there, without some JS AJAX hackery, which makes it not work for everyone. TheFearow | userpage | contribs 21:54, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
