Can anyone provide sources to bigger publishers? Many of these appear self-published. I see it cites an Asian news agency, ANI in reports. Could anyone provide hits from bigger sources? Computerjoe (talk) 16:38, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Asian News International ANI story 132 archaeological sites in Egypt not excavated‎ has been picked up by a few newspapers.

The same ANI also wrote Iran's 4 salt mummies placed in vacuum chamber for preservation but on the article which was cited it says NF but I don't know what NF means, I thought it was another news agency like CNN or ANI.

I found a CHN story, woo hoo! I cannot find a story by CNN, or AP or those guys yet...will look a bit more.

I found an AFP story which continues on about the site Hawass, Secretary General of the The Supreme Council of Antiquities, mentions in his blog.

There is also an old source about satellite research for archaeology written by CNN in Dec 2008, but I didn't add it, read it or use it. Satellites unearthing ancient Egyptian ruins (pdf) html version SriMesh | talk 18:35, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, too much of this relies on the Silver Scorpio site, which to me seems to be unreliable. I think there is genuinely a story here, but imo this article has been conflated with old news from unreliable sources. --SVTCobra 00:16, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Silver Scorpio newspaper doesn't have to be used the story "132 archaeological sites in Egypt not excavated‎" ran on all of these websites - newspapers - news sites:

So are any of the above better than Silver Scorpio? I thought that the Egypt State Information Service Culture Minister site should be pretty good as it seems like their government site.

I am not sure about the old news - the article relied on sources written May 12 only, and the May 11 supports the ? source as it is from CHN, but I think all the news is new according to the newspapers which were cited...so I think the old news comment I am not clear on how to clear that up.SriMesh | talk 01:13, 14 May 2009 (UTC) SriMesh | talk 01:03, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure either ... and I am no Egyptology expert ... I just looked at the sources listed in the article. Silver Scorpio looked 'sketchy' and was the only one for the 132 sites. We might do well in replacing it with one or more of the above ... but yes we lack a true "reliable source"
I find this surprising since Western media is usually fascinated with Egyptology. Cheers and happy editing. --SVTCobra 01:55, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done replaced. But only one would be needed they are all the same. And Thank you.SriMesh | talk 16:13, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
