  • I think we've lost this one. I'm very sad I didn't get to this review yesterday. The focal event really is Sunday, as best I can tell, both local time and UTC. :-S
  • With the focus on Messi's retirement, it's not impossible one might update the article with information about things others have said about it; though that might be a somewhat tricky article to write. The subject seems to have been kind of done to death; I see an article within the past few hours from Newsweek whose focus is somebody telling fans to leave Messi alone and let him think things through for himself.
  • It looks, btw, as if Messi said he'd decided to retire from international football; it doesn't come across as merely hinting at it. Certainly the media have been covering it as an announcement of retirement, though of course they want to sensationalize things. The truth seems to be that it wasn't an official announcement but also wasn't really an ambiguous statement either.
  • I'm not so sure about the last sentence, here, that his "only achievement" was the Beijing medal; I'd have trouble verifying that, I think, and I'm not quite sure exactly what one means by "achievement" in this case. Trophy?
