Parental rights in education Bill

Jump to navigation Jump to search

DeSantis was for the bill; I figured saying "law" was a quicker way of communicating it passed; DeSantis' argument was that the law "protected parents' rights" by "safeguarding" their children from schools. Funny, I agree with the move to give the state more oversight over Disney-corporations shouldn't be ruling themselves-but certainly not why he did it. This is suppression of free speech.

What part it suppression of free speech?

Suppression of Disney's right, as an individual-since corporations are considered legal persons in the US, to free speech. If a corporation is not allowed that right, is it likely that DeSantis would advocate a human individual's right to do the same? Furthermore, it contravenes Citizens United, which, when it's corporations spending in elections without restriction to Republicans' benefit, they like.

Tangentially related -- https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-03-07/chatgpt-alter-ego-dan-ignores-ethics-in-ai-program/102052338 is interesting, general question like 'should kids be taught unethical things' or 'should general public have access to information how to do unethical things' etc
