Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Why did you revert the edit? It was not vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.1.135.46 (talk) 17:20, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, we had an edit conflict on this article. Please check if you are OK with the way it looks now. I am finished with my edits. I tried to restore your edits, but many were in the same paragraphs that I was simutaneously changing. Cheers, --SVTCobra 23:38, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hard but to do.....

It's hard to fulfill targets with 6Ww but at least I tried to reach at least 5Ws because I'm not native in English, In addition have you seen this trail version of COMPUTEX 2008 Special Issue for Wikinews (not published because another one to be re-write and re-arrange, I think this special should be different than a simple Wikinews Print Edition)? I heard from a little bird

I heard that you had raised some things on the layout of policy pages. The bird is Brianmc. I'm new here also and would love to help if you don't mind. The Mind's Eye (talk) 14:14, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is the project personal or wikinews related, if wikinews, I would love to hear about it. The Mind's Eye (talk) 01:17, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Asking for help

I really have problems in uploading photos in general. I am sorry I don't have any backgrounds about the copyrights & some copyrights issue I find very confusing. I uploaded two photos & then I found them deleted because of copyrights. if you can help me with this I will be very thankful. Meanwhile please feel free to do anything with my article that you find useful.--Mustafaahmedhussien (talk) 22:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your friendly note. I may not be long here but we'll see. I need a break from wikipedia which is much denser in the sense of the number of edits etc. I see the rules are a bit different here but I'll try to learn. Lysy (talk) 17:05, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there

Hi there! Thanks for your help on Operation NANOOK 2008! This wikinews is quite a different ball of wax from wikipedia. It is cool there is a fellow Saskatoonian over here. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 15:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note about new news

I appreciate your comments. I wrote the article about the archaeological discovery, only to find on comparison of sources, that there were 'misquotes' in my local newspaper regarding the time frame of the publication of the scientific journal which wasn't released within the last week, but rather at the beginning of August. So the scientific naming of the fossil species heppened this month on an archaeological dig of the 1980's, but still only the sponge is named not the new fish. They say that geology is slow and mountains and lakes take ages to form, but these scientists seem pretty pokey as well!! ~1980-2008 hmm!? Requiring a pre-publish review

Pakistan's Presidency spokesman resigns This article is marked as requiring a pre-publish review by an uninvolved editor. Please check if it complies with Wikinews policies and guidelines. --Saqib (talk) 14:50, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for your help alphabetizing Category:Infoboxes, the various groups could probably use some sub-categorizing as well at some point, though not a high-priority matter. Cirt (talk) 17:02, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, probably just let it sort by number. Cirt (talk) 21:22, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you do a peer review for the article above? Thanks. --WNewsReporter (talk) 22:37, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User Preferences

I don't know if you're the one to talk to about this, but I ran into a little problem with the User Preferences page. I made several changes to my preferences, and each time it wouldn't let me save the changes unless I filled in the "New Password" boxes. It just kept giving me an error saying my password had to be at least 1 character long. Gopher65talk 03:59, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I can't really help you with that. What you want to do is file a bug at http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org (or alternatively find a dev on irc and ask them. I'm not sure which channel that'd be, I always get confused whats appropriate for #mediawiki vs #wikimedia-tech). 24.65.82.136 (bawolff) 06:39, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Publish

Ah, well, that is a valid concern. Thanks for clarifying. Jade Knight (talk) 07:27, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Copyright

Can you please provide some examples of where copyvios occurred in the article Australian government concedes the federal budget may be forced into deficit so I can look out for them in the future. I seem to have gone stale on rewriting, I much prefer OR but at the moment I am trying to get some Australian content on the site and there isn't much roving I can do :( - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 20:34, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your pointers. I have been away from WN for a while and unfortunately seemed to of gotten a bit stale on re-writes! As I said I much prefer doing OR, then I can avoid the copyright issues. I can understand your part of the world, I am in Central West NSW so am in much the same boat - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 03:49, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and query

For your very kind help, in having my very first baptism article published. I will never forget this, in my heart. I had replied with a rather too long discussion on my page, which, you may wish to read, if not too long. Is there an adoption here? I desire to be adopted, by a Wikinews administrator-adopter, since, I am sure that my 3 Wikipedia English stalkers who had me blocked in Wikipedia English, had been monitoring me here, to block me or to blank my User Page. At any rate, please help me go along. Cheers.--Florentino Floro (talk) 07:05, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
