This article is not up to standards for a lead. But I made it a secondary off the lead. --SVTCobra 00:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I did not say "already" just that it is in the related news, but I guess I could have said it is "now" in related news. If I had said "already" then I agree that would have been a slight. --SVTCobra 01:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Wikilinks don't work in the Mediawiki namespace sometimes, that message is one of the no-wikilink ones. On the subject, HTML doesn't work in that one either, because it's part of a link. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thunderhead (talk • contribs) August 4, 2007
- Indeed so, Mediawiki namespace is wierd =P Thunderhead - (talk) 03:03, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
where to say oops sorry
[edit]Hello I am new here and I accidentally changed a userspace without realising that it was a userspace. Where do I say sorry? The tabs at the top are different in Wikinews than in other places and now I've made a mistake I am a bit worried about where to put things.Open Research 08:32, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
aww but that was th funny part!!
[edit]It was all I could do to not make some comment about christians thinking all rock music is the work of satan. lol
anyway, such a sentence wouldn't be out of place if the article got to a reasonable length, which is why I didn't hit publish.

[edit]Hey guys. I know I've all but vanished. I'm in Iowa right now on an emergency job. I'll be back Monday at the latest. Murder at street parade
[edit]I am not keen on that template. (Not to mention that it seems to mix up Sweden and Switzerland). --SVTCobra 02:37, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Use of such a template would have to decided by consensus. Your use of your own template tagged an article that is about an event in Switzerland, but written in German, as better suited for the Swedish Wikinews. That's not right by any means. I removed the template.
- Besides, we do accept articles with foreign language sources. We just need to translate them (which is sometimes done by trusted Wikinews editors). We do not publish until it is verified however. --SVTCobra 02:52, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- I can read some German. But only enough to make out that this article is not a piece of fiction. Also, the dates are right, so it is current news. In such cases we are unable to move forward, so we just leave the article in the development stage. There is no harm in that, either the language experts step forward, or this article goes away as abandoned. It happens all the time, such is the nature of Wikinews. Unless some publishes it, there is no reason to pick at it, unless obvious proof of a hoax or misleading. --SVTCobra 03:08, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Removed edit of other's userpage
[edit]Hiya Ironiridis, i reverted your edit of that user's userspace. It's not really wikiethical to edit another user's page. Have a great day, Thunderhead - (talk) 09:48, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment.

Quick Question
[edit]Hey. Had a quick question about when to use {{ready}} and when to use {{publish}}. I know that you told me it is best to mark them ready first. But most of the articles I mark as ready never get approved until the next day...so it is already "old news." Is it alright for me just to put publish after about 30 minutes so at least my stories are getting viewed? Herb 14:54, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Now I Got It
[edit]Alright now I see the whole concept. Yeah, that is a good idea if it would allow articles to be reviewed in a timely manner. Alright, 30 minutes sounds like a good time frame to me. Thanks again for all of your help. Herb 11:23, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]What? you cant find anything on Ozegahara? What if you Google it? Like Search:Ozegahara? I see tons of stuff, including the abbreviation "Oze". However, I am not commenting on whether this user's contributions are news, but at least it seems the subject is rooted in something that people describe as a wetland/natural reserve.
I don't know how I can help ... make sure things are not published without sources. Officially, I am not even here. I am on break. --SVTCobra 03:28, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank u
[edit]Well, as I was saying, I think that some users of Wikinews, and who work on other Wikinews proyect, are acting as if the proyect belonged to themselves. They call as SPAM, the FREE AND CORRECT EDITING OF WELL REFERENCED INFORMATION AND NEWS. My real name is Ferran bono, am REALLY JOURNALIST, from the spanish newsletter El Pais, and I want to colaborate with german, english, spanis, catalanish Wikinews proyect, and I will require your help if such kind of people continuos critizing my texts and initiatives simply because they consider themselves the STARS of Wikipedia. Of course, I need some help, but I WILL NOT ACCEPT COMENTARIES AS SUCH OF DIVOL, THAT THE INFORMATION, WELL REFERENCED AND CREDITED, IS SIMPLE """SPAM""". I dont write spam. And other side there is a strong pression from news wich arrive from english or USA world: Wikipedia and Wikinews are a proyect without frontiers, so I WILL TRANSLATE THE NEWS I CONSIDER RIGHT INTO MORE THAN ONE LANGUAGE. And Im interested on cultural news. ANd: and want to become a CREDITED WIKIPEDIA JOURNALIST. hHOW? Thank u. Ill be for example at the Book Fair of London and of Frankfurt next month, and I want to publish original interviews nd matherial about. Maybe be we, YOU and ME, can collaborate. Team. Thanks.--Uma 14:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. Ill work to do good news. Forgetting other commentaries. Ill translate it as right as I can, and complete with more information, as far as I can arrive. Thank u very much. Sorry if i acted angry, but sometimes there is a problem with the real professional level of people who like to be journalist on his free time. (Another question: is it right if I answer you here, or would it better if I answer you on my discussion site?). --Uma 15:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

that: "Familiarity breeds contempt." But I do believe it breeds a liscense to speak frankly. That may mean that my outlandish behavior is subject to your purveyance. So what? It cuts both ways.
An anon IP no more for you? Okay.
I'm not out to crack on people.
I think my idea of news runs counter to Wikimedia. And I don't like the idea of blogs. So if you got news and want to come here with it, you are going to have a hard time as a less than non-biased person with news trying to report it. Any bias does not necessarily make it 'not news'. That is just how it is.
Stale bores me, bias I understand. -Edbrown05 08:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Neutral point of view bores me, because myself or other people will take care of that. Du u wanna hear about the police at WAWA in Hopewell VA fencing off the entrances to the parking lot at 2am in the morning when the ravers come out? Gee, dunno if I could write something acceptable here about that. Crowd control when the bars close, Whatcha gonna do? -Edbrown05 08:52, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

- Edbrown, watch where you tread, you were blocked for sockpuppets. Not ironiridis. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 04:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Blocking sockpupputs is done for a reason, Irid wants my pupputs. Okay I used them, I'm guilty... you already have them all. Irid is a piece of shit that will not admit to his/her own sockpuppetry. Quid quo pro, harummpppphhh. -Edbrown05 05:08, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

WTF and Tasks
[edit]Yeah, I am a bit surprised with the stuff on WTF - I think the category should go, but the template seems fine. Although there are a few objections, so we'll see.
And of course i'd use Tasks, its a great template :) Makes it a lot easier to tag. TheFearow | userpage | contribs 00:24, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

I suggest you should reconsider the statement you have made here with regard to the blocking of Edbrown05. Ed has recently become more and more disruptive on Wikinews and part of this is his abusive nature towards other editors. Ed should be blocked if he ignores simple policies regardless of your opinion as the victim of the abuse. Whilst you may not be offended by it, you, as an administrator, must be prepared to enforce policies to ensure that Wikinews does not become distracted by people not interested in furthering its aims.
You shouldn't let your personal opinions as to the severity of Ed's abuse get in the way of your role of protecting the wiki from such problems. Calling another user a "piece of shit" and allowing this to pass potentially damages the reputatation of Wikinews and could put off contributors. Ed does't need to be vandalising articles to impact on the work we are trying to do. Of course noone expects you to block users where you don't feel it to be appropriate but you shouldn't unblock them where another admin has considered it to be appropriate in situations where your objection to the block does not have any basis in policy.
