To help you get started we have an essay that will guide you through the process of writing your first full article. There are many other things you can do on the project, but its lifeblood is new, current, stories written neutrally. As you get more involved, you will need to look into key project policies and other discussions you can participate in; so, keep this message on this page and refer to the other links in it when you want to learn more, or have any problems. All Wikimedia projects have rules. Here are ours. Listed here are the official policies of the project, you may be referred to some of them if your early attempts at writing articles don't follow them. Don't let this discourage you, we all had to start somewhere. The rules and guides laid out here are intended to keep content to high standards and meet certain rules the Wikimedia Foundation applies to all projects. It may seem like a lot to read, but you do not have to go through it all in one sitting, or know them all before you can start contributing. Remember, you should enjoy contributing to the project. If you're really stuck come chat with the regulars. There's usually someone in chat who will be happy to help, but they may not respond instantly.

Places to go, people to meet Wiki projects work because a sense of community forms around the project. Although writing news is far more individualistic than contributing to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, people often need minor help with things like spelling and copyediting. If a story isn't too old you might be able to expand it, or if it is disputed you may be able to find some more sources and rescue it before it is listed for deletion. There are always discussions going on about how the site could be improved, and your input is of value. Check the links here to see where you can give input to the running of the Wikinews project.

Write your first article for Wikinews! Use the following box to help you create your first article. Simply type in a title to your story and press "Create page". Then start typing text to your story into the new box that will come up. When you're done, press "save page". That's all there is to it! It is recommended you read the article guide before starting. Also make sure to check the list of recently created articles to see if your story hasn't already been reported upon.

The interview you contributed, that was never adequately, nor competently, reviewed against credible evidence will be labelled appropriately. At the risk of provoking a most irate response from Brian, I've unblocked this user once again. As indicated in the unblock summary, the blocking reasons and currently available evidence to back it up are unsatisfactory. The audio for the interview was provided, and Saki appears to have reformed, having written several published articles. There's not been any vandalism from him since mid-2008. • No, no irate response. You have just given a known vandal a green light. Look at the considerable number of newly created accounts since you did so, at the locations they claim to be from. Are you multilingual enough to speak any Japanese? Ask "Mr" w:User:Saki here how he manages over there. • The point here is that we have no definite proof of wrongdoing. The last vandalism was two years ago; since then, the user has written at least three articles that were published, and an audio transcript has been provided as well. So what more could we want? I see zero vandalism coming from him. That the userbox on en.wp says he lives in Tokyo may very well be out of date, it's not been edited for two months. I'm just saying that, based on current evidence (which, although may appear somewhat suspicious, is entirely circumstantial), there is not enough to support a lengthy block. Bleaurgh, that template looks nasty. Saqib: I would defer to a second admin, but my gut feeling is that if you request unblock at your main account it will be granted. • I received an email from Chiaki this morning. Apparently you told her the audio was lost. I also, last night, downloaded the WMA audio from your website. Despite having several nonfree codec packs on my Linux install this will not play. Can you re-upload in a libre audio format such as FLAC, WAV, or OGG? Yes, I told her that the audio was lost and yes, it was but I forget that I had a copy in my recycle bin (thanks God). If I were knew how to convert audio files, I had did it before. Unblocked

Good day, Saki! I'm sure you would be please to learn that I have unblocked you, given the lack of additional, meaningful evidence brought against you on WN:AAA. Consensus on that page seems to suggest that the community still trusts you to edit constructively. :)

Now it's time for the formalities: You must contribute through only one account of your choice. If you wish to contribute through an account other than this one (Saki), then this account will be reblocked and the other one unblocked. If you are found to be using a different account without our approval, then you may be blocked indefinitely.

I'd also point out that you staying unblocked will also depend on making sure the interview you conducted is completely legitimate, which many users are seriously concerned about. If it's found any part of that was in violation of policies, particularly if it was intentional, I can name numerous admins who would be only to happy to block you again, and I think you'd have a hard time convincing anyone to unblock you. That said, I do support your unblocking, on, as Benny said, the condition that no socking takes place in the future and your contributions don't become disruptive. • I will echo the sentiments expressed by C628. I am in touch with Creative Commons about the interview, they were aware of it being arranged, but knew nothing of the domain upon which you have posted audio. I am awaiting further clarification from them on how this was arranged and put to their contacts. You must remember that you are not an employee or representative of Wikinews, or the Wikimedia Foundation. Nor, as it seemed through the creation of the domain hosting the audio, are you a representative of Creative Commons. I, and others I have discussed this with are a little concerned there was no notification of anyone on Wikinews that this was in the planning. Who is saying you that I represented myself as emplyoy or representative of WM or WN while taking interview of Chiaki Hayashi?? Go and make sure with the interviewee first before shouting at me. As for the domain name, I didn't registered it to represent WM nor CC and I dont think freeculturemovement.org is a registered trademark of eigther organizations. Is it?? By the way, before going to register it, I asked people at freeculture.org if they have any issue if I register such domains but they had no issue but I still don't whats your problem with my domain. --Saki (talk) 16:16, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

• Saki, if you have truely reformed then you must understand that people will need to perform very tight checks on you, because of your past. Assuming you've done nothing wrong then just co-operate. • Your interview has been deleted. Under no circumstances whatsoever should you contemplate engaging in any form of Original Reporting until such time as you have made an effort to gain community trust and prove you can act responsibly, avoid copyright infringement, sockpuppetting, and so. I am of the opinion your prior blocks, and a permanent block of this account would be fully justified. Unmitigated Audacity

I hear you had the chutzpa, brass neck, or sheer affrontery, to apply for accreditation; and, were shot down faster than a Me109 against a squadron of Spitfires.

You, frankly, will never be issued a Wikinewsie email address until you start dealing honestly with the Wikinews community. And, master the English language and copyright law.

I am uninterested in how someone has access to thousands of IP addresses in the area of Pakistan where Osama Bin Laden is puportedly holed up. I am, however, concerned that this project retain its integrity.

You've lied to this community. You've vowed to destroy this project. And, you've created more sockpuppets than there have been Elvis sightings.

You should still be permanently banned.

Leave accreditation well alone; it has to be earned. Don't think because I'm at a reduced activity level I will not find out your machinations. I take my responsibilities as a 'crat very seriously. The integrity of this project's reportage is crucial. You, with every copyvio, or near copyvio, put that at risk.
