A good, intuitive read; thanks. --Gryllida 04:50, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Type of page?[edit]

I think it might be best if this were labeled as a guideline or essay—whichever it actually is. This looks like it might be a sub-page of WN:Pillars of writing, which is marked as an essay. Does anyone who was around for its inception remember?

If no one else comments in a couple of days, I think I might go ahead and mark it as an essay. We can always take the tag down later if its status changes. Darkfrog24 (talk) 23:02, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. Followed pattern of WN:5W&H, placing essay box below leading text that would be overwhelmed by a large hatnote. --Pi zero (talk) 23:16, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Though I do wonder whether the shortcut is worth mentioning, when the actual name of the page is so short it's often linked directly. --Pi zero (talk) 23:18, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I think the bottom of the page is a good location for it. Gryllida (talk) 23:34, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the bottom placement was a typo. I'm not going to fight anyone on it but I think it's better up top. Just because it's a short essay doesn't mean it's that qualitatively different from other essays. Just makes its point briefly is all. Darkfrog24 (talk) 20:01, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've put it back to the bottom, seeing the "placing essay box below leading text that would be overwhelmed by a large hatnote" phrase above which indicates that this choice was on purpose. Gryllida (talk) 20:08, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
