Italics for CNN[edit]

@SVTCobra: re [1] - see Wikinews:Style guide#Names of publications and articles: "Italicise names of publications and articles mentioned" - wouldn't this include any link to CNN? --DannyS712 (talk) 19:55, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DannyS712: I wondered about that at first, too, but the point I think is that CNN is a network rather than a publication. --Pi zero (talk) 20:28, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my, that section is so under-developed. And reading it, it's like it assumes every source is a printed newspaper. Yikes! --SVTCobra 21:57, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notes[edit]

For this not to be a book, I had to paint some things in broad strokes. For example when I wrote he returned to Rhodesia, he had done so a few times prior, but left again, so I obviously mean just his main return. I do think it is a pretty good summary. It became far longer than I intended, but it was an education for me, too. Cheers, --SVTCobra 21:41, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Death in Singapore[edit]

"Mugabe died yesterday morning at the age of 95 after being admitted at Gleneagles Hospital in Singapore in April this year."—NewsDay. Also mentioned less directly in Al Jazeera and CNN. --SVTCobra 19:27, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I scrutinized everything all the sources had to say about Singapore. Repeatedly. (I'm deeply worried I won't finish this; I've only got about three hours to midnight.) --Pi zero (talk) 20:56, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Added a second CNN source: "Mugabe died Friday morning at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs." So there's straightforward attribution available, too. --SVTCobra 21:05, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't edit the article with {{under review}} on it. Granted it's the Sources section; but the wiki software has been going downhill lately, and I'm not sure it handles such stuff correctly anymore, and in any case it makes it harder for me as the reviewer to keep track of what's going on. --Pi zero (talk) 21:15, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, I did just say I was worried about finishing this in time. I can't afford the time to relitigate that point if I'm to have any chance of finishing this; nor can I afford the time I've already spent explaining that I can't afford the time to relitigate it. It's taking me about an hour per paragraph, at which rate I'll be only halfway through when the article goes stale. --Pi zero (talk) 21:19, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you can't finish, don't worry. I will repurpose the main body of the article for the upcoming state funeral which has been announced today. --SVTCobra 21:55, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SVTCobra: You'd caught me before at moment of maximum pressure; it looks like I'll finish, and I'll likely be able to take a moment to revisit the point about place of death. Which in no way diminishes the possible value of a separate article on the funeral; it's just vastly easier to review the two in separate bites. --Pi zero (talk) 22:50, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SVTCobra: I'm happy to see the info from Singapore integrated after publication, but I won't be able to do so myself as it'd be too involving. --Pi zero (talk) 22:57, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
