Mass graves of thousands of ISIL victims found, UN reports

In a report issued on Tuesday, the United Nations announced the discovery of more than 200 mass graves in territory previously under the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The sites were located in northwestern Iraq, in Nineveh, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Anbar provinces, each site containing from as few as eight, up to many thousands of sets of human remains.

Dozens of people killed in Mogadishu, Somalia car bombings near Sahafi Hotel

On Friday at about 4 p.m. local time, four car bombs detonated near Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. About four to five armed attackers reportedly attempted to enter the hotel and were shot by police and the hotel security guards. As of Sunday morning, at least 53 people were reported dead and at least 100 injured.
