Hi,
Thanks for your contributions to Wikinews,
So that in Wikidata we can attribute you as the author of your articles, I have created an entry for you there.
I have been careful to only use information you already have on your userpage but just wanted to give you a heads-up so you don't have a surprise moment :-)

Hi Ash, would you mind please replacing any non-English sources here that can be replaced while maintaining verifiability with English sources (I suspect that would be all, given the subject)? WN:CS says the use of non-English sources "should be restricted to those absolutely essential, such as where there is only a single English source and the non-English source is required to corroborate the story and avoid potential copyright issues." They really lengthen the amount of time review takes if the reviewer doesn't understand the source language, like with me in this case (since reviewers are advised not to use just unreliable machine translation to read the sources).
I get translating articles across Wikinews editions helps you practice your skills with that language and improves cross-edition collaboration, but in this case... Thanks, Heavy Water (talk) 00:20, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
- Done! The reason I chose to do a translation rather than synthesise an article from scratch is because I noticed nothing had been published for a month and I wanted to get some form of longer article out. I'm currently very busy with university so I haven't had the time to write anything "proper", so when I saw de.wikinews had published something I just thought I'd translate it to get us something new. Hello. Wikinews:Flagged revisions/Requests for permissions/Asheiou has been open for more than a week, and Wikinews:Accreditation requests/Asheiou has been open for months. I have requested the closure of your requests. You may be contacted by our admins about these cases, so please carefully check your talk page and e-mail. Thank you for helping Wikinews. Your help/contributions around here are appreciated. Please let me know what I can do to help you.--Bddpaux (talk) 19:28, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
- I'm a bit directionless at the moment in terms of what I can/should work on. I have press tickets to the Insomnia gaming festival here in Birmingham next weekend, so I'll do some OR for that. Another other piece of my OR, an interview with the runner up of Ireland's Eurovision national final, is currently still stuck in the review queue, it's been there for 2 months now. The original event is beyond stale, but the article can definitely be reframed further around the interview I did. I'm going to have to find alternate sources for some things because I'd imagine the original broadcast they had on the RTÉ website has been taken off now. IIRC they keep them for 30 days. A.S. Please see my review.--Bddpaux (talk) 15:45, 27 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Hiya,
- I'll be able to Gatwick it next week. I'm having a bad health week, unfortunately! A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 22:25, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
- This week's been equally bad for my health. Fingers crossed for next week. Chronic illness is a real headache haha. A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 13:28, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
- The article is essentially about an award being granted AND your interview. In it's current state, this article will not be published. You might want to grab the interview text and throw it into a sandbox for later use.... I do believe this stands a chance, if gatwicked properly, but I am failing and deleting this article very soon. I will give you a bit of time to grab the text and copy it over if you wish to do so.--Bddpaux (talk) 15:29, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
- The interview is already stored in my emails so if you want to delete the article you can, I can restart it when I'm feeling better.
- I'm currently suffering a complete collapse of my ability to function, I've been wheelchaired everywhere the last couple of weeks because I just cannot get my brain or body to cooperate with me. I'm just saying this because I don't want this inactivity to reflect poorly on me and my commitment to the project: my commitment to my health remains my first priority and I have to take some time to mentally and physically recover before I can work on this to a standard I'd want to publish.
- I completely agree that the existing article isn't publishable. I was already flaring up when I wrote the original and the last few months have been rocky, to say the least. I'll work on a new article focussing more on AILSHA herself (because she's been doing more things since I interviewed her) once I'm in the right physical and mental space to sit down and write it. Cheers! A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 18:17, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

So: guess who is now an Accredited Reporter! I will take action to add you to the proper lists, archive your request, format your card thing etc. soon. I wish we had a devoted email address for you -- but we don't at this time -- part of our many infrastructure issues. But: You're legitimately legit now!!--Bddpaux (talk) 20:46, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- @Bddpaux I have ash@asheiou.uk so we're good email wise. A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 20:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

- Congratulations. Welcome to the (other) cabal. To clarify, we do have a domain, wn-reporters.org, and associated mailserver. You can ask acagastya (the mailserver admin) about configuring an email address for you. Heavy Water (talk) 22:25, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- @Acagastya would this be possible? A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 22:28, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Pathoschild I had this wiki on the skip list for my global userpage migration request. Can this please be reverted? A.S. Thawley (talk) (calendar) 20:44, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Done! Sorry about that; that was a typo when I updated the script for the latest Toolforge changes. —Pathoschild (talk) 21:07, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

So, this is a LEEEETLE early in terms of when you became an Accredited Reporter, but I believe you will use the credentials wisely! Give me a shout if I can help. I will get your nomination page archived/cleaned up soon. [I really need to work on my skills at archiving pages!] Bddpaux (talk) 17:38, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

- I don't think there was a consensus there... Heavy Water (talk) 06:10, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Well, it was COMFORTABLY over 50% in support. In light of our thin-as-tissue-paper infrastructure, I made a move. I am optimistic about this user. We badly need Reporters reporting and Reviewers reviewing around these parts -- NOT people bogging down in the micro-level bog of Wiki-policy-flotsam.--Bddpaux (talk) 16:51, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
- Bddpaux: By my count, "three supporters who I think you'll agree are obviously too inexperienced to have suffrage, one who you might consider experienced who opposed, your support, and now my oppose." Heavy Water (talk) 02:10, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

- @Heavy Water I lost sleep over this last night, and that's pathetic. At my stage in the life cycle: I refuse to do pathetic. Locking my ego in a box, I will say this: From Accredited Reporter to Reviewer in less than 30 days is a piece of bad comedy. I am guilty of being a bit too optimistic. This needs to be said: This user has actually done pretty much nothing "wrong" per se, other than being an eager beaver. They should at LEAST be given the opportunity to show their mettle as a Reviewer. This project is held together by 2 drops of glue and a candy wrapper. This year, we have gone 15 days (quite a few times) without a single reviewer taking ANY meaningful action on pending stories. We barely have Reviewers doing a damn thing around this place. Obviously: I smiled a bit too quickly on this RfP. The fact remains: It is hard as heck to mentor a Reviewer unless that person has the Reviewer bit -- not impossible, but hard. Given our tissue paper bedrock, your Churchillian list of questions for potential Reviewers is positively LAUGHABLE, however. Although I am unaware of a molecule of policy in this regard, I will impose a certain type of purgatory on myself over the next 12 months: On all things like this, I will either vote or be the Admin. who takes action -- but I won't do both. In medical terms, let's call that "best practice" for a little while. We've had some wicked weather around my area and I have a lot of that to deal with at home. I will not utter another syllable about this matter. Do as thou wilt. I am stepping away for a few days, but will return soon.--Bddpaux (talk) 13:43, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
In a matter of a few hours, I may have an article for you to review.--Bddpaux (talk) 16:51, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Rapidly approaching stale; good starting point for your first review! Look carefully and the Talk page -- but don't drown in what you find there, either! Just make sure there aren't too many STRAIGHT, DIRECT QUOTES from source article(s). I am trying to be optimistic about this whole 'Pre-review' thing...--Bddpaux (talk) 16:55, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
