Category:Michael Bloomberg added[edit]

I've finished adding Category:Michael Bloomberg to the gazillion articles as requested wipes sweat off brow. Regards --Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 18:47, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Editor status granted[edit]

I have promoted you to the Wikinews:Editor class, as I feel you can be trusted to mark revisions of articles as sighted (review). Please take a moment to read:

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask for help on my talk page, and thank you for contributing to Wikinews!

Tempodivalse [talk] 01:22, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, a bit off-topic: your new signature seems to be messing up the date stamp that goes right after it. Any chance you could fix that? Cheers. Tempodivalse [talk] 01:27, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

edits to image page[edit]

Hi, You marked a bunch of images as fair use, that are not fair use images. If the image is fair use, you should also write on the image page why it is fair use/have some reason to think its fair use. Thus, I've reverted your edits. Bawolff

  • Those images? Yes, well, the Arling ones should probably be deleted - the photographer wanted to use an ND license. A Fair Use rationale would have to be kinda fuzzy and assert they were okay at the time uploaded and used. If they go then, unfortunately, there's nothing left of the article they're in. --Brian McNeil / talk 13:26, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Yemen article merging[edit]

I'd say take some stuff from your article and merge it into mine. Mine has been fleshed out a bit with the British response and Obama's annoucement. I'd do it myself, but I'm leaving for work in 15 minutes and won't be home for 6-8 hours. --Patrick M (TUFKAAP) (talk) 18:05, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Review of 6.5 Earthquake hits off California coast‎[edit]

When you get a chance, can you review this article? I think it could be breaking news, given that a witness said it was the worst they've had in 20 years (last paragraph, [1]) Glacier Wolf 02:35, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Sighting articles[edit]

Please don't sight anything that's not yet been reviewed - you may have done this unintentionally on the Jean Biden obit. --Brian McNeil / talk 13:00, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

I'll just tack this in here, WN:SG#Citing syndicated (wire_agency) content. --Brian McNeil / talk 14:11, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

NBA star Gilbert Arenas pleads guilty to gun possession, could face six months in prison[edit]

FYI: Something (I don't know what) went wrong in your review/rename of this article ... I found it in the top leads with the {{review}} still on it. I assumed that you stood by the review I found on the talk page and published it. --SVTCobra 03:42, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

US President Obama celebrates his first Martin Luther King Jr. Day while in office[edit]

Regarding the review of said article, I disagree, and I would urge you to reconsider. This is Obama's first MLK Day as president, and I think that it deserves a mention. It may not next year or in the years following, but since this is the nation's first MLK Day with a black president at the helm, it's a seemingly valid story at least for this one year. PSD27 (talk) 01:32, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

PS: As you can see, I renamed the title accordingly to reflect my above statements.

Getting Help

Possibly the fastest way to get help is to look for the regulars in the #wikinews IRC channel on Freenode. See this page for more details. Remember, many people will lurk, connected long-term, but not regularly checking for messages. Please be patient when looking for answers to queries, it can be annoying to see someone ask a question but leave before you notice it.

Libya stops issuing visas to Schengen countries[edit]

I materially rewrote/expanded this article and resubmitted for review. I don't know how that plays into the writing contest. Cheers, --SVTCobra 02:24, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

deletion of userpage[edit]

Since shak doesn't seem to be online right now, thought i'd answer. Basically someone blanked parts of your userpage and added the text /Users/student/Desktop/DownloadedFile.jpeg. ShakataGaNai decided to remove the vandalistic revisions from the edit history, because thats what he does. In about a week once you become an admin, you'll be able to see what exactly happned [2]. Cheers. Bawolff

Hey! I only do that for "personal" information. One of the edits was a claim on a real name. I just like to... make sure. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 01:29, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Wow, I totally misread that diff. I didn't notice that the first time i looked. Bawolff 04:08, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Article failed review[edit]

Imam pleads guilty in New York subway bomb plot has failed it's initial review, due to a lack of background information and article length. All you need to do is add 2 to 4 sentences detailing some of the background of the case in question, and maybe some more information about the current news event itself, if anything important sticks out to you. After that it should be fine. Also, please try not to place every sentence in its own paragraph. An article should be a minimum of 3 paragraphs, but each paragraph should be a minimum of 3 sentences long. Note that this is just a general guideline; it isn't set in stone. Sometimes it just makes sense to use a single sentence paragraph. It shouldn't be the norm, however. Gopher65talk 14:42, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Article title wrong[edit]

The article title WHO: Drug resistant tuberculosis on the rise is factually and substantively incorrect. In fact, the WHO said something entirely different: "The country data reported to WHO make it impossible at this time to conclude whether the (drug-resistant TB) epidemic worldwide is growing or shrinking". That's a far cry from the alarmist "on the rise". I strongly recommend that you change the article title. Accuracy is paramount, and this is plainly inaccurate. Philippe (talk) 22:14, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

I've taken the liberty of moving the article; I hope neither of you mind. C628 (talk) 22:33, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi![edit]

I have changed the picture of our article. The free one is awful. That's why I decided not to use it, and people will recognize him by that photo, too. --Diego Grez return fire 19:49, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
