Trillium article
I taged it for fact check, as The progressive conservitave party no longer exsists, so I find it strange that they'd comment. Bawolff ☺☻ 21:39, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- are you sure its the federal liberals not the Ontario Liberal Party (which are two diferent entities). To me the article seems like it should be ontario liberals, but is unclear. Bawolff ☺☻ 21:58, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, thats right. I changed it to the Ontario Liberal Party. It's not unclear. It says in the Toronto Star that it's the Ontario Liberal Party. I could be still wrong. I also changed the Progressive Conservative party to PC Party of Ontario. FellowWikiNews 22:15, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Stop mislabeling images
Hello,
you've uploaded several images which are clearly non-free, and labeled them as "public domain" or "copyrighted free use." Wikimedia Commons can only accept free images as per Commons:Licensing. The only images which are free by default are photos created by employees of the US federal government in their official function, or pictures whose copyright has expired (very old). Other material has to be explicitly licensed as per our licensing policy.
I've deleted the above images. FellowWikipedian, if you do not follow this advice, I will have to block you from uploading further images. Please be more careful, and make sure all your images are labeled correctly.--Eloquence 21:51, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Again, please do not upload imagse that constitute a copyright violation, as you did with File:Canadian PM with Pres. Bush.jpg. Photos from competing news organisations, including but not limited to TV stations, newspapers, news agencies, news websites, photo agencies, are a big no. Check our image use policy for details. And if you got news that involves the U.S. President, www.whitehouse.gov almost always has public domain images we can use. --Deprifry|+T+ 23:10, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry. Next time I will try www.whitehouse.gov. FellowWikiNews (W) 23:11, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Canada portal
Just want to say I'm glad your working on the Canadian Portal stuff. I always wanted to fix it up, but I never got around to it/kept forgetting. Also of intreast is that Category:Canada and portal:Canada have two very different displays. I have no idea if they should be merged or stay that way or what(Some people also feel that cats should only link to portals (notably Amgine feels that way) some people feel they should transclude the portal in the category (Me, And a couple others. I think DragonFire agrees with that idea) others think they should redirect to the portal (Dan100, however that method is very annoying, and is not in use really. redirects with cats are handaled beter now then they used to be though so it may come back in style, but I wouldn't recomend it). Happy editing and thanks. user:Bawolff
- Thanks! There are lots of users contributing to Portal:New Zealand etc. So I thought that I could help with this. We need more Canadian news. FellowWikiNews 13:44, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

welcome messages
I don't think welcome messages should be used to solicit votes. If you feel that you need more support for your vote, try to get it from more seasoned members. Just my opinion. --vonbergm 00:41, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- The vote link is part of my signature. I'm not doing that to solicit votes. FellowWikiNews (W) (Vote!) 00:44, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- And welcome messages is pretty much all you have done since you changed your signature. I am not saying this happened on purpose. I like your contributions in general, but this bothers me a little. Anyway, this is not serious enough to get into an argument about, so let's focus on writing articles! --vonbergm 05:00, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Can you stop issuing welcome messages to people before they've made any contributions? You just don't know if it is someone creating an account for later use in vandalism. Best to wait for a first edit. I used to do all newly created users until one - who was from wikipedia - pointed out he could have been a vandal. --Brian McNeil / talk 20:43, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
You're now a sysop!
Congratulations, you have just been made a sysop! You have volunteered for boring housekeeping activities which normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops basically can't do anything: They cannot delete pages arbitarily (only obvious junk like "jklasdfl,öasdf JOSH IS GAY"), they cannot protect pages in an edit war they are involved in, they cannot ban users except in cases of obvious vandalism or excessive edit warring (24-hour "cool down" ban). What they can do is delete junk as it appears, ban vandals, remove pages that have been listed on Deletion requests for more than a week, protect pages when asked to by other members, and help keep the few protected pages there are up to date.
Note that almost everything you can do can be undone, so don't be too worried about making mistakes. You will find more information on Wikinews:Administrators, please take a look before experimenting with your new powers. Drop me a message if there are any questions or if you want to stop being a sysop (could it be?). You might also have a look at WN:BP. Please also keep an eye on WN:ALERT. Have fun! --Chiacomo (talk) 00:35, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

block of 203.97.52.147
i see no vandalism by User:203.97.52.147 and no reason for blocking her. her concerns of copyright violations are well-founded, and she did *not* vandalise the page by tagging, nor did she violate 3RR. i strongly suggest that u unblock the user or atleast consult other admins over this. Doldrums 14:25, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- i've listed this block for review at Wikinews:Admin action alerts. Doldrums 15:07, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- I am reviewing this article and events. You have removed copyvio tags at least 4 times within the past 24 hours. You have removed the original source article from the article's sources. This article is still predominately copy and paste of the Forbes article. I will give you a brief period of time to correct your recent actions regarding this article, or I will do so. I would suggest an apology, and a rewrite of all non-quote text. - Amgine | talk en.WN 15:56, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Warning: Publishing Pope calls for Middle East peace
This is a warning regarding copyright violations you are attempting to publish. You have been told repeatedly that this article contains copyright violation. Re-organizing the text does not remove the fact the text is copied from another news source's article. Please do not publish this article until it is actually rewritten. - Amgine | talk en.WN 18:31, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Advertising?
I see you made this revert [2]. I see this user's efforts as clear spamming. They violated Wikinews:Sockpuppet by creating a new user to continue advertising their product after another "User" made an article about the product and it was deleted [3]. Also, they posted their "idea" in both the policy section and proposals section of the water cooler. MyName 21:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Do you want me to block him? FellowWikiNews (W) 21:44, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would just let it go for now. If the advertising continues, though, I would block him for spamming/sockpuppetry. MyName 22:10, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome =)
Hi and thanks =) Now I see some basic rules at Wikinews... I didn't source the article becuase I watched it on TV... But well, nevermind.

Archiving
I see you got the hang of archiving articles, I had to go out part-way through doing a batch. There's various other things I do whilst archiving:
- Read and look out for obvious blunders.
- If anything apparent, or a particularly lengthy article I edit and use the Google toolbar's spellchecker.
- Watch out for quotes that have been pasted from Microsoft word, they're slanted, the only valid quote characters in articles should be " and '.
- Make sure the various sections for related news, sources, and external links are correctly labelled and sorted. (newest stuff goes first in each section, links to wikimedia projects are given preference so related news usually comes first).
- Look out for incorrectly formatted dates, it should be month day, year in the {{date}}, {{wikinews}} and {{source}} template.
- Remove inline links to sources, links to an external source at an interesting point in the article encourage people to leave the site.
- Categories. Make sure there's at least one location and topic category on every article, remove redlink categories unless you think they should be created. Beware of the encyclopedic.

Re:Liverpool Cabal blog
Hello. When you moved an article on the Liverpool cabal blog to "Blogger.com made website called Liverpool Evil Cabal," did you really mean that Blogger.com was involved in the creation of the website?
After reading the sources cited and some part of the blog, I found no ground to support the statement, so I assumed it was just a confusing title or you misunderstood the company's role in this.
The page is now moved to another title, and the "Blogger.com made..." page is now listed for Deletion. There is also a request for a review on the change in page title Wikinews:Water cooler/policy#request for review.
In case you find my judgment wrong, or have other comments or opinions, I thought I should let you know. Tomos 17:06, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Your message

The Wikinews fair use policy points out that Wikinews cannot use images from other news sources.
The Fair Use is a legal defense, and allows infringement of copyright only under very specific circumstances, such as using a copyrighted item in a completely different and non-competitive manner. Clearly using an image from another news source to illustrate a news article is not completely different or non-competitive.
Please do not upload such images. - Amgine | talk en.WN 19:45, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Paraguayo unblock

Unblocking
I am very disappointed you chose to shorten Paraguayo's block. Paraguayo/-chileno have submitted several hoax articles before, and have attacked several users before. These actions are some of the most harmful to Wikinews's creditablity and the community. I believe those who intentionally try to harm Wikinews, should not be welcome on Wikinews. Paraguayo has used sockpuppets and is yet to contribute anything of value to Wikinews. I ask that you reinstate his ban. NM Amgine has done it already --Cspurrier 01:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
P.S. It is considered good practice to contact the admin before undoing xyr action. Often there will be more information then is available in the block log. If you ever need to contact me, I am in IRC most of the time (just say my name and it will ping me) or via the other ways listed on my user page --Cspurrier 01:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
