Press passes

A Macau Wikipedian asked me if people could get press passes for the Macau Grand Prix. The annual even is just ending now but I wonder if anyone has experience with this. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:06, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@WhisperToMe: I don't have specific experience with that sort of event, but my impression is that what is needed for a press pass varies greatly from country to country and/or from event to event. The particular credentialing we sometimes provide is en.wn accreditation, but we as a community generally don't give that out without knowing who we're dealing with — some demonstrated willingness to contribute here, also giving us an opportunity to gauge what sort of person the contributor is, would generally be expected before we'd consider accrediting someone. --Pi zero (talk) 05:49, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If photos are available, a photo essay may be published 2-3 days maximum after the event ends. See PILLARS; Writing a Photo essay; WRITE. Gryllida (talk) 08:44, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@WhisperToMe: I am literally using the press card as I use it: I am an accredited reporter, and all that I can advise is, start by writing articles here, and accumulate reputation which would help you get accreditation and maybe that could be used next year. Pass on the message to that colleague of yours, and feel free to ping us in case of doubts.

(Note: photos are not a requirement. Any notes -- drawn from existing online publications or from your notes -- could work.) Gryllida (talk) 10:36, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
