Thoughts[edit]

  • What, specifically, is the focal news event here? Was it an announcement of a policy by Woolworths? You need to state the specific focal event in the lede, including saying on what day it happened. The lede should (as WN:PILLARS#style notes) briefly capture the essence of the article by succinctly answering as many as reasonably possible of the basic questions about the focus; and in the process, it should show the focus is newsworthy. Newsworthiness means the focus should be specific, relevant and fresh.
  • The headline should "tell the most important and unique thing", and should be a sentence (i.e., it should contain a verb).
  • I recommend page Writing an article, which is a tutorial on writing an article for Wikinews.

Expanded. Wish there was a way to freshen this. I will keep looking for new developments. Gryllida (talk) 23:09, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Freshened. Submitted for review.
Date template is wrong. One may wish to correct it when publishing. Gryllida (talk) 23:54, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Review of revision 4550885 [Not ready][edit]

Confirmed there are no two sources which agree on the date when the four packs per customer limit was introduced. Found only one source. Sent e-mail to Coles, Aldi, IGA, and Woolworths inquiring about the time when limitations were introduced (and the time when they were reduced, if they were). --Gryllida (talk) 23:22, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Forwarded responses from Coles and Woolworths to Scoop. Gryllida (talk) 01:46, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gryllida: According to Woolworths' FB page they have had a two-packs limit in place as of March 8 (Sunday). Did they communicate something else via e-mail? (Is there a way for me to check this on Scoop?) - Xbspiro (talk) 09:04, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Scoop is limited-access; it can be used for materials that cannot be shared in a public forum for whatever reason (such as personal information, news embargo, copyright, whatever).

I've retrieved two emails that were sent to scoop. --Pi zero (talk) 17:36, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Xbspiro (t · c · b), this is correct and it corresponds to what they sent to me. I guess the article should be changed.
On Sunday, Australian store chains Woolworths and Coles lowered their purchase restrictions on toilet paper to TWO AND one package per transaction in all stores on national level, RESPECTIVELY. Gryllida (talk) 19:59, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Pi zero just added it to the article now. Again thank you! Gryllida (talk) 20:34, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I still think this should be included[edit]

There are many sources on the topic. It should be on Wikinews. ICameHereForNews (talk) 08:10, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Status[edit]

There seems to be some awkwardness about the lede and the dates of developments. One really wants more of the overview in a shorter lede, arranged so that Wednesday is mentioned (for maximal freshness). If I were reviewing the article at this moment (or even if I'd been able to start reviewing it, say, six hours ago), I'd be considering what I could do within reviewer's purview to improve that situation. Because I'm not able to review at this moment, and midnight UTC is only about two and a half hours away, these adjustments to the lede are especially needed to clarify freshness; but I think they'd be wanted anyway. --Pi zero (talk) 21:31, 12 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managed. --Pi zero (talk) 21:50, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

{{editprotected}} Please add the “Related stories” section and add other stories related to COVID-19 ICameHere ForNews 09:17, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well... what do you have in mind? It doesn't seem needful. There's a wikilinked reference to COVID-19 in the lede, and clicking on that would take the reader to the category, which has everything we've published on the subject. Our best practices for the Related news section (which are described at Wikinews:Style guide#Related news section) use that section, foremost, when some past Wikinews article is a source for the current article, and secondarily, we might list one or maybe two of our previous articles simply because they may be of interest to the reader. Some Wikinewsies don't even use it for that second purpose (so that, even though it's called "Related news", it's actually just "Sources on Wikinews"). No more than two non-source related-news articles, though; for large numbers of tangentially related articles, we figure the right tool is a category. --Pi zero (talk) 04:38, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Missing image[edit]

I don’t know who took the first photo, but it can definitely fall under FU. It has to be uploaded locally. @Green Giant: any comments?

Agreed. Fair use applies quite well to the text. It was uploaded by @Solarence: who licensed it under CC-0. A local copy would be the best solution here. I can upload it later today if you don’t have a copy. --Green Giant (talk) 14:51, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Green Giant: I don't have access to the file. If it all right, can you please upload it as soon as you get a chance?
