Has been deleted several times at commons, and the admins there haven't been notifying you like they should. In short, they claim its all rights reserved, which this page tends to agree with. Bawolff 02:39, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Consider also images in this category

It seems yet agian our concerns are ignored. Tags were removed when they were placed WITH merit. Personally, I do not want to be part of wikinews if we are going to look like amyspace blog. DragonFire1024 19:30, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

And I readded the tag and noted that nothing was resolved in the article dispite the addition of cleanup. DragonFire1024 20:14, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I liked the "putting a link to the images on commons" idea but it was reverted. FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 17:59, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks much for the help =) i liked it very much. i got another news story. pretty funny one at that ill try working on it soon it would be great if you help me out a bit on it too =)Maverick423 16:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

If you spend a couple of months writing for Wikinews, you will be a pro at writing news articles. So, keep writing! FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 17:10, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

The news story i just made is here =) i talked about it on the water cooler that there is no links as of yet so i guess it makes me the original author =) please fix it if you can and tell me what you think of it. I hope my skills are improving a bit. [1] Also you tricked me =( =P but ill get you back Maverick423 18:18, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Could i also ask you to delete some of the abandoned articles as some of them are weeks old and there is a a huge list of them on the front page (not quite as big as the developments list though!!). thanks --MarkieTalk 19:04, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you
Thank you for your comment on my recent RfA! My RfA passed with a final tally of 12/0/1, and Cspurrier promoted me tonight. It feels great to have support from my fellow Wikinewsies. Thanks again for your support, and feel free to come to me if you need anything. Thanks! --Thunderhead - (talk) 23:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: Flags in sigs

I have removed the flags from all my signatures, with two exceptions. Talk:Jimmy Wales asks Wikipedian to resign "his positions of trust" over nonexistent degrees and a post made on WN:RFA which is now in archives. Sorry for the breach in policies. Hello FWN. Thanks for the additions to the Elizabeth May article the other day. Great stuff! Cheers, Jcart1534 11:03, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I got the information from Wikipedia. You also did a great job on creating the article! Good work. FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 19:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Your archive and guideline sections at the top of this page are broken. I suspect this is related to the breaking of the dynamic boxes on the front page. --Brian McNeil / talk 17:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I will temporarily add a list to my archives separately on my talk page. But I still don't understand why the dynamic boxes arn't working...strange. FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 19:26, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

wikinews ads

Great job with the advertisements. However from a format point of view they're better as png's as jpeg compression results in bad quality for anything that's not a photo. Bawolff 22:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok. Do you want me to re-upload them as png? FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 02:09, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Well probably doesn't matter very much, as you can't really see any quality loss, but just something to keep in mind for the future. Bawolff 02:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Any future ads will be in png. Thanks for the info. FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 02:13, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

I create them now so people do not have to create them in the future, especially if they are new to wikinews and would like to use one for a news article they may want to write, i feel its better to be ready for the future (:O) -Nima Baghaei (talk) 19:57, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok. Just try not to mix up LocationAntiguaAndBarbuda.png with all of the infoboxes! :) FellowWikiNews (W) (sign here!) 19:59, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Video Wikinews

Since Brian has enough on his hands and you are another Admin that is aware of the Symode issue, I'll refer this to you. Please look at the following exchange I had with with him about copyright: Behold The Wikinews Player. It refers to this external link [2] Thanks, --SVTCobra 23:28, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

After reading WN:EDP I feel that the wikinews image used on the website is an issue but not a big deal. I think the real issue here is the trustworthyness of the user. FellowWikiNewsie 00:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Umm, WN:EDP is an internal policy for wikinews. Its not the law. (Although wether or not that site is okay is debatble, but i feel that he did it in good faith as a semi-private demo) Bawolff 02:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
If you say so, but I felt that it jeopardizes the wikifoundation by putting Wikinews insignia on an obvious infringement of copyright. BTW it is not an just image, but an entire comedy routine taped for some television program. --SVTCobra 00:59, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Could you please log on to the Wikinews IRC channel for further discussion? Thanks. FellowWikiNewsie 01:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

lead synopsis

where'd u get the "Thousand of inmates have escaped" bit? i removed it as it appears to be unsourced or incorrect. –Doldrums(talk) 20:39, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Thousands of inmates do live at the New Castle Correctional Facility so I thought I would add it to the lead. FellowWikiNewsie 20:43, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
CNN says 1600, so less than 2000 and therefore not thousands. also, i see no reports that they've "escaped". from what i can make out, they're all still in the prison, a danger only to themselves and whoever goes in there. we need to be careful about stuff like this. u can imagine the reaction of someone in the area who's told that thousands of prisoners have escaped from the prison and later finds out, that that's not quite the case. –Doldrums(talk) 20:48, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Whoops. I was mislead after reading the article. FellowWikiNewsie 20:50, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
hmmm...anyway, it got fixed quickly, and that's the important thing. –Doldrums(talk) 20:52, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Stephen McNeil becomes leader of the Nova Scotia Liberals

Done. The IP in charge of this vandalism, [4], was blocked indef on both Wikinews and Wikiquote. FellowWikiNewsie 23:31, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

I see you created Category:Ed Stelmach, all the categories you drop it into should have [[Category:Ed Stelmach|Stelmach Ed]], the bit after the bar instructs the wiki with a sort key, without it the category will appear under E on politicians and so on. --Brian McNeil / talk 08:47, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Or you could use {{DEFAULTSORT:Stelmach Ed}} which will automatically do it for every category. Bawolff 08:53, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Right. I will do it with all "my precious" categories :D FellowWikiNewsie 01:04, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

oh, thats prpobably because when you link to somewhere with an interwiki prefix in the title of the url, the raw part of the url is ignored. (this would break the way you're transcluding the scripts from wikipedia). For example, compare vs Bawolff 22:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I've made some changes to it. Thoughts? Bawolff 05:03, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

I deleted deprected beside template:abandoned. I think both ways are okay...{{subst:aband}} automatically puts the date for you, {{abandoned|May 20, 2007}} doesn't. FellowWikiNewsie 19:48, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Template talk:Featured picture

Hi FellowWikiNews,

I've noticed that you don't have a lot of time, but still, I'd like you to have a look at the page and share your thoughts. I've added your name as a participant since you previously showed interest in the project, remove it if I've been too bold there. Anyway I've listed some candidates and I was hoping that you could join in updating the template if you have time... Make sure to put the page on your watchlist!

--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 12:19, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

No problem...I will vote on images and update them from time to time, but I will not be active on the project all the time. FellowWikiNewsie 19:44, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
That's not needed. Thanks!--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 22:11, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

U.S. President Bush responds to Russian criticism

Thus far, my contributions have been limited to technical/styling issues, such as links and use of templates. If you can point out some of the NPOV criticism, I would be more than happy to take a look at them. --SVTCobra 00:15, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

I asked you because I thought you could help me with the NPOV issue in the first sentence (which I thought were obvious), and I see that you edited it. It looks much better. FellowWikiNewsie 00:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I have softened some of the words in the article. I have also added my own criticism to the talk page. However, it seems factually correct (relying on the sources of course). --SVTCobra 00:38, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Well you didn't really think that you could notify me of this without me giving it at least a once-over, did you? --SVTCobra 00:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
The words "has flared up yet again" sounded a little editorial sounding, imo, but you addressed the issue and it looks much better now. I guess I should have clarified what I meant in my request but it is over now and I think it is best to keep it at that. Thanks. FellowWikiNewsie 02:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey FellowWikiNews. When deleting templates [5], even when they have been passed through WN:DR. you must check to see if it is use, expressly in articles. The deletion left several articles having a red notemplate markup in the middle of the text. cheers Brian | (Talk) | New Zealand Portal 04:56, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

If it was you that left me a message on my talk page on Commons, I have responded to it there. If it wasn't you, someone is trying to give the impression that it was you. I am a strong advocate of keeping discussions threaded so would appreciate further discussion remaining there and not spread across multiple wikis. Thanks. ++Lar: t/c 11:41, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

DPRK launches missile

As I've noted, this article needs expanding, but could I ask you clarify why it cannot be published on the basis of its length? Adambro 14:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

It is one sentence long and yhere is no information on the event. Journalists write news stories to inform people. One sentence is not journalism. I'm sure not many readers will benefit from a report that is one sentence long. FellowWiki Newsie 14:32, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me, I've replied on my talk page. Adambro 14:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes but how long would the article stay as a stub on the main page? I'm not very keen on publishing one sentence articles, especially when they are breaking news and more information needs to be added immediately. FellowWiki Newsie 14:47, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, you have a point but I was worried that it would stay as a stub. Anyways, when I publish breaking news articles I never wait for other people to add information, I do it myself. FellowWiki Newsie 14:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Image uploads

You might wish to consider uploading images available under a free licence like you recent photographs to Commons instead. Doing so means they can be better organised and used on other Wikimedia projects. Apologies if there is a particular reason why you haven't done this. Regards. Adambro 15:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I uploaded them here because I cannot login to my current account on Commons. I only uploaded them for my article and I do not want them for use on other projects. But thanks for your interest. FellowWiki Newsie 15:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
