[edit]- Question I am still not comfortable with you given the history of hoaxes related to the so-called The Irishman Rockerball-film allegedly starring Emily Browning (sysops can see the deleted edits). Your contributions have improved greatly, but the question begs answering. Why should you be trusted with press credentials? --SVTCobra 02:15, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- As you have said, my have improved greatly. I think they have improved to the point that may warrent credentials. As for the "hoaxes", I've moved past the point of posting speculation and similar material. I've decided to leave the writing of all Rockerball related article to some one else. --RockerballAustralia (talk) 10:39, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Reason:
- I am keen to expand the coverage of Asian events, in particular sporting events and during my travels (for work) I am able to attend many different activities and hence provide both original reporting as well as researched reports. Being able to gain access to press events and be included on media mailing lists requires accreditation.
- In particular to provide original photographs credentials are required as camera's are banned from most events unless associated with media. There are a singificant number of major sporting events taking place in Singapore and Asean over the next few months that warrant both coverage, original reporting and original photographs.
- I was actively involved with motor sports writing and photography previously and would like to continue this through wikinews. Examples of prior work can be found at http://www.bjornengelhardt.com/Media/Media.html

- Location: Oslo, Norway
- Areas of interest: Politics, social questions, science, photojournalism
- Reason: As I primarily work with original research articles I regularly find myself in need of an accreditation. Especially in cases that involve contact with local and state government.
I have also contributed with some pictures, as I primarily work as a freelance photojournalist of different situations, the lattes being the state visit of the Palestinian prime minister witch I also made an article around. The access was acquired thru contacts and accreditation from other freelance work. It will make it substantially easier to make and contribute OR articles surrounding political situation if I had access to an accreditation that is connected with the page I contribute to.

[edit]- Question How can your work benefit wiki projects other than your home one - specifically, English Wikinews. --Brian McNeil / talk 00:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- My work, beside Vikivesti, can be used on Wikinews as a source of photos, also a news-article from source (Which I have intentions to write): Tennis - Rogers ATP tournament, incoming Winter Olympics in Canada... also I am traveling a lot - You can see thru my Gallery of pictures and also Commons is going to have even more quality pictures from me, which are already in use: Examples are Rogers tournament from last year, photos from New York and Montreal, some aerial photos and so on...Given that I would only need credentials to cover an events, I would imagine these event-oriented images would be primarily useful to Wikinews immediately, but later on when I upload my photos to Commons, for use across all projects.--Laslovarga (talk) 00:42, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I guess I'd like to see some articles written for English Wikinews to demonstrate that you are capable of wring well in news style/format. Doesn't have to be anything fancy or in-depth, just a few simple stories. Also, it would be nice to see examples of original reporting done in the past. Unfortunately, I can't speak Serbian, but I trust your work on Vikivesti is good. —Calebrw (talk) 04:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks to all of you for giving me an opportunity to introduce myself. I started with Wikipedia on English language in 2005, my first contribution was Skorenovac, and also later on, SC Plavi Dunav article. After that I was shortly on Hungarian Wikipedia, but immediately after in 2006 I start to work on Serbian Wiki. My biggest fascination was to do contribution with Cyrillic letters. From that time Wikipedia on Serbian language become my home Wikipedia. I started approximately 850 articles and in total I have more than 20.000 contributions on several different language on Wikipedia. In a mean time I become administrator on Serbian Wiki and ,also recently, I become administrator, reporter and one of couple of us who start with new developments on Vikivesti (Wikinews on Serbian language). This new assignment is taking me so much time, beside my regular private job (supporting family) that in this time I have no much time for original reporting, of source we have to translate and implement (myself and user Milens) all the rules from, for us main, Wikinews pages such as for example Wikinews:Original reporting, Wikinews:Policies and guidelines and so on. This, I think you agree, is very much full time job, but I promise that what ever I will publish on Serbian language as original reporting I will did same article also in English. If you go on my user page on English and Serbian language you can find all this and more. My strength is photography and I am most proud on two of, this and this, first one was even used in Indiana University project in November 2007 for the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center. I'll be happy to answer on more questions on yours, and as I tell you previously I have intention to use my original reporting mostly from sport events, Toronto Raptors, Blue Jays, Maple Leaf, Toronto FC, Rogers Cup are my opportunities, and those are main reasons why I apply for Accreditation. I hope that I make myself more familiar and from these couple sentence you can see my style. But beside, I promise that I will shortly write some articles/news on English too. Thanks --Laslovarga (talk) 23:21, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Question What do you expect to get from en.wikinews with "Accreditation"? Do you think you will get an ID card, embossed with "Wikinews" and/or "Wikimedia Foundation", that will gain you access to any public event that you may wish to attend? --SVTCobra 02:22, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- News is something what is happening, most of the time unexpectedly without prediction and than that is exited and than that is real news. Shortly, accreditation is just tool which I can use when I can predict some events and easier be on the source. I think that this my comment can give you an answer and picture about my intention and idea about ID card usage. --Laslovarga (talk) 01:29, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- Support I'll repeat what did I say earlier :) As Wikinews doesn't have a multilingual hub and Brian did a lot on making Wikinews as a relevant media, I think that en.wn accreditations should be valid for contributors of all WNs. In this case, Laslo may be very productive for sr and hu WNs. Besides that, even if someone is contributing periodically some news to en.wn, while being an active contributor of some other WNs, I think that it is worthy enough for giving accreditations. Getting an exclusive photo from a random part of the world is something from which en.wn may benefit. --millosh (talk) 14:44, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Support I agree with millosh. Mike Halterman (talk) 16:40, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose Whilst recognising this user is active on other English language projects, it isn't realistic to expect the English Wikinews project to be able to form an adequate judgement of a user who has made very limited contributions to this project. For the accreditation process to have any credibility requires those who are asked to comment on an accreditation request to be actually in a position to properly make an assessment of that request. Wikinews projects in other languages should develop their own accreditation processes if it is considered useful for their contributors but I remain unconvinced of the value of accreditation in its current form. Adambro (talk) 16:45, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Support per Millosh (talk · contribs). Furthermore his answer to my question was thoughtful
and well thought out. Even a small contribution, especially when OR is concerned valuable and if accreditation helps this user, so much the better for Wikinews, and all WMF projects, English or not. Calebrw (talk) 05:47, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply] - Oppose - If this user is to be writing articles for the English Wikinews, some work is required in the areas of grammar, sentence structure and word usage. See Laslo's response to SvtCobra's question about WN's accreditation / ID above from May 14th. Sorry, Laslo. Iceflow (talk) 19:54, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Accreditation is nothing to do with working on English Wikinews (according to your comment only English Wikinews required accreditation?); anyway that is your opinion and there is no problem with me --Laslovarga (talk) 23:52, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- You are being accredited by the English Wikinews community, so it has got things to do with working on here because this is the only community accreditating you! Computerjoe (talk) 20:52, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Now, I am confused? Only place where you can get accreditation is here, and if you going to work on Wikinews on other language than English you can not have accreditation?--Laslovarga (talk) 23:27, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- You are running to be accredited with ENGLISH Wikinews ONLY. To my knowledge only one or two other languages have something similar, but most dont. Basically being accredited with English Wikinews means we trust you to produce {{original reporting}}. It looks like you only came here on a mistaken thought that you needed accreditation from us for your own language Wikinews work - this is not the case. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 05:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- Support - We always need photographers and I think this user has proven that they do good work in their everyday lives. - Oppose It isn't realistic to expect the English Wikinews project to be able to form an adequate judgement of a user who has only made very limited contributions to this project. Of which the majority have been minor spelling corrections, some of which have been plain incorrect and some of which have been replacements of British English spellings with American English which is questionable in some cases. - No, I think that interviewees would be able to identify me thanks to the accreditation. You can't stand before famous persons and say "Hi, I would like to interview you!". There are specific procedures how to get an interview and how to appoint meetings. Accreditation would allow me to get materials and information at easier way. I'll be at Universiade as a volunteer. Also, I plan to interview Spanish-speaking sportspersons in Spanish. My priority, for now, is the project in Serbian language, with constant cooperation with other language editions of Wikinews. - Support Mile was talking to me a couple of days ago (because of that I saw Laslo's request). He wants to be an accredited journalist for the Universiade in Belgrade (and time for the accreditation requests is very limited). He is willing to make interviews with public persons from Serbia, too. However, he wasn't able to do that because he doesn't have any accreditation. Besides, that, he is the most active editor of sr.wn last months. I would even change my accreditation for his, if it is possible. --millosh (talk) 19:08, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Abstain I'm sure you're an excellent contributor to your project, and accreditation will help you well. However, I'm not sure I can support you, as I am unable to judge your work at other projects because I can't speak in your language, and thus can't tell whether you would make a good AR. Maybe it would be better if the Serbian Wikinews and other WN projects consider installing their own accreditation process, instead of coming here to request it.
