Contest notice[edit]

Hi, just wanted to remind you that you're three hours and 45 minutes from the article deadline to stay in the article writing competition -- you can only take one free pass at a time (sorry if that wasn't clear in the rules, and you thought you could take two or all three at once). Best regards, Tempo di Valse ♪ 20:46, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up. I had not forgotten, but had critical real world work to do. It is now largely out of the way and I can invest some time in WN again. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 21:50, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oops[edit]

Looks like I accidentally blocked you -- was intending to block the IP instead, but hit the wrong block button on recent changes in the confusion. Sorry. Tempo di Valse ♪ 22:46, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving suggestion[edit]

Hallo. I recommend that you consider archiving some of the older sections of your talk page -- it's 60 kilobytes long, and some older browsers might have some difficulty loading it quickly -- my browser takes a few seconds to load this page, and is rather sluggish when scrolling. Just a suggestion. Best regards, Tempo di Valse ♪ 18:41, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will have to track down the archive box template and the documentation on it to do that (ironic that the actual archiving is the easy bit). I can't promise anything before Friday, but if I can, I will. Remember, I have the writing contest to stay in... Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:44, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can have a look at my talk page to see how I organise my archives, it is really very simple -- just embed the links within in the {{userboxtop}} template. No need for any documentation/fancy templates. Cheers. Tempo di Valse ♪ 18:52, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is an auto-archive bot too. --Brian McNeil / talk 20:12, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2nd place[edit]

Hallo! The contest has ended, and you received second place in the number of articles reviewed. You are therefore entitled to your promised prize:

The Citation Barnstar 2nd place - most number of reviewed articles
This user has received first place in the reviewing section of Tempodivalse's writing contest, having reviewed six articles within the length of the contest.

Congratulations! Hope you had fun. tempodivalse 14:10, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A penny for your thoughts[edit]

Okay, not really, but I am requesting your participation in the following Water Cooler Discussion: OR and Broadcast report. The discussion involves the need for specific policy concerning how Original Reporting relates to information recieved from a broadcast report of an event. This can include both news-style reports and non-news reports, such as a sporting event. Thanks and again, please share your thoughts on this so we can get as many people involved as possible, especially since this relates to an important topic such as OR. —Calebrw (talk) 05:11, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo![edit]

Saw your name in the rc, thought i'd pop in and say hi. Nice to see you back and writing articles after a short hiatus. Tempodivalse [talk] 22:36, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hydrogen fuel cell cars[edit]

Well, saw your note upon the talk page, and lengthened the shorter title to a long one to encompass the place Hydrogen fuel cell cars promoted in various states however U.S. federal funding cut. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 15:18, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was good to note about the place. There was a different blurb on the television news, and so I thought I would check to see what was in the newspaper media news, and the end of May was very busy for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car events and prototype implementation which is what gave birth to the article. I will have to again check what is going on world wide in this field, as most of the end of May articles were American based, with a few exceptions, Canada and Switzerland. SriMesh | talk 00:18, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blood Red Sandman,

Would you mind doing a peer review for the article above?

Thanks. --WNewsReporter (talk) 18:38, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just about to set up a category for Continental Airlines, and then yeah, I'll take a look. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:39, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the review. --WNewsReporter (talk) 19:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I just got back today from a week's break. Maybe, but I doubt I'll get round to it. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed to the result?? Viriditas (talk) 15:33, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is weird. The "be" now shows up, but when I click "edit' there's no "be". Is there some kind of caching issue? Viriditas (talk) 15:38, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello BRS! Don't forget to "sight" the article. Cheers, --Jcart1534 (talk) 21:01, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Review 2009 Shri Shyam Bhajan Amritvarsha held in Hyderabad[edit]

Hi Blood Red Sandman, could you please review the article. I am assuming, you are an uninvolved editor. If not, could you ask someone to do it. Thanks, Shyam (T/C) 19:18, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gopher65 has said he will review the article for you. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 19:41, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi There :) You removed a section from the article, stating you couldn't see the source - please see http://www.mayorwatch.co.uk/iwm-marks-70th-anniversary-of-wwii/20098619 :"Visitors will also be able to see the jacket belonging to King George VI which he wore during his famous broadcast to the nation." Will reinstate, subject to no further objection!

Thanks

Template:Review[edit]

Please use {{review}}, not {{ready}} - which now exists only as a redirect to {{review}}. Cirt (talk) 17:49, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since the second produces the former, it makes no difference. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 17:52, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yea but there is really no reason to use a redirect, when one already knows it is a redirect and not the actual template. Cirt (talk) 18:51, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah but that assumes I actually remember. I still don't get why go through all the trouble of hassling me about a template that produces exactly what it's meant to. I occasionally use the old name but hey, look, the planet continues to turn. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 18:58, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize, it was not meant to come across as hassling. Cirt (talk) 19:09, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I also apologise for viewing it as such. Not been a good week. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 19:12, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hope things turn up for you. :) Cheers, Cirt (talk) 19:36, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Comments[edit]

I understand.--KDP3 (talk) 22:01, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to check on the # injured. I think the BBC is saying 3 guards and 3 inmates (6 total) versus our 3 inmates only. I approved it anyways cause I know the details are still sketchy. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 21:21, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done I just went with the Beeb number. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 21:25, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Applying for editor[edit]

Exactly how do I apply for editor permission?Soapy (talk) 18:34, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All you have to do is post a statement at WN:FRRFP asking for Editor status - instructions for how to do so are on the page. Then other users will comment on whether they think you should be given editor status, and after a few days an admin will decide whether to grant it. Tempodivalse [talk] 18:37, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
^^^What Tempo said. Stick your name in a header, say words to the effect of "I want this" and add a subheader for votes. Then sit back and see what happens. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 20:42, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page move[edit]

It would have been a courtesy to discuss with me first, before doing the page move to US free speech lawyer defends satire of Glenn Beck. Next time, I would most appreciate it if you would do so. :) Cheers, Cirt (talk) 06:29, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That assumes I knew you were online. This is first thing in the morning for me, so I kinda expected America to be in its beds. Also, you'd have had to respond fast before I left it alone and it was stuck at that title, unless someone else noticed, until my return in around 10 hours' time. Remember, the fact that we all know the First Amendment inside out is more because we're on Wikinews than indicative of what the rest of the world knows. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 06:39, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(Not to say I don't agree with the page move itself. :P ) But it could not have hurt to leave a message at my talk page, like I said - as a courtesy. No harm in extending the courtesy. :) Cirt (talk) 06:40, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's reasonable. I'll drop a note if I do it again. <semi-related spiel starts here>While in this example the Americanism in the title had to go, this is something even experienced users can get caught with and never realise. Obama has sandwich for lunch would be fine; we all know who Obama is. President Obama has sandwich for lunch wouldn't; he isn't President of the World. US President Obama has etc would be the way to go if we needed to give a title. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 06:45, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, agreed. :) Cirt (talk) 12:22, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Project INDECT[edit]

I need all the help I can get on this. Take a look at the in-prep article text, the video, and my notes on the talk. At the moment I'm going to look at the NeoConOpticon report - will be speaking to the author in the next couple of days. --Brian McNeil / talk 16:29, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

Hi BRS! Just a note, please remember to only use the rollback tool to revert blatant vandalism. This edit could have been made in good-faith, so it might have been better to use the undo button and write in an edit summary explaining that the punctuation was wrong. Cheers, Tempodivalse [talk] 22:52, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I found it hard to think of anything to say to a user who had provided no rationale for deleting a character apparantly at random. Had they stated that they were trying to repair grammar I could have responded to that, but here it seemed to me that it was fairly obviously correct before and I could see no reason why it was removed. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 22:57, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you intending to update/add more info to this article soon? I'm asking because it's been sitting around in the newsroom for several weeks now without any changes, but hasn't tagged as abandoned per the notice. If nothing is being planned for this soon, it might be best to temporarily move it to prepared stories to get it out of the newsroom. Cheers. Tempodivalse [talk] 04:07, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I intend to contact Stopp & Stopp sometime soon. Brian wants me to consult Mike Godwin first, but I feel like just doing it. However, next task is to convince Lord Fraser he wants to talk to me; he doesn't seem convinced. I guess it should head into my userspace for now.
