Wikinews:Flagged revisions/Requests for permissions

From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!
This is an official policy on English Wikinews. It has wide acceptance and is considered a standard for all users to follow. Changes to this page must reflect consensus. If in doubt, discuss first on the talk page.

Please use this page to request the Flagged Revisions permission, putting new requests at the top. Requests will generally stay open for at least a week (unless fast-tracked), after which an administrator will read the comments made by other users and decide whether or not to add the flag.

Requests for reviewer

Note for this section, "{{Support}}" means "support the request", and "{{Oppose}}" means "oppose the request".

A good and active candidate. She would also be willing to be a reviewer I think. ~ Sheminghui.WU (talk) 08:11, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Is this User an Accredited Reporter?—-Bddpaux (talk) 16:34, 23 November 2025 (UTC) Hi Wikiwide, do you accept the nomination? Please note that reviewing 100% of articles every day is not required as it may lead to burning out. Reviewing one article a week or one article a fortnight would work very well noting that in case of being not ready it may require urgent re-review after someone fixed it up. Thanks. Gryllida 08:37, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support Acceptable. I will probably keep to editing articles instead of waiting for someone else to do it, but if article is already in very good condition, I will be glad to publish it. Wikiwide (talk) 11:12, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a list of what to do. 1) Comment or vote on this page.
Thanks. -- Gryllida 08:38, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Gryllida I'm inclined to accept the request directly - do we need a certain number of votes? Leaderboard (talk) 10:16, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Cromium and @RockerballAustralia, required assistance to assess whether the vote was successful as I have a conflict of interest due to knowing the user personally. Thanks. Gryllida 03:47, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that for nominations or requests for reviewer permissions, there are two additional steps that must be completed[1]:
  • Transclude the request page at the foot of the section below by adding the title of the request page, enclosed by curly brackets e.g.:
{{Wikinews:Flagged revisions/Requests for permissions/YourUsername}}
  • Then inform the Wikinews community of your request.
Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 14:56, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Sheminghui.WU, could you please complete the two above steps, thanks Gryllida 12:15, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Historically, reviewer requests have included questions to confirm a contributor’s grasp of current policies. Wikiwide is a long-time user but not a consistently active contributor (629 edits in 16 years). We do need more active reviewers, but we also need thorough reviews. I would support this nomination on the condition that Wikiwide commits to conducting full, detailed reviews rather than only publishing articles already in strong shape. Contributors rely on clear feedback just as much as we rely on timely publication.Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 15:10, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support Nominee vote. A very trustworthy long-time user; although she hasn't written many articles, she would be suitable as a reviewer. ~ Sheminghui.WU (talk) 08:13, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support: Hope you stay active and continue reviewing articles. --Asked42 (talk) 07:17, 23 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Per comment above, may change again pending response. Update: I have updated my vote based on Wikiwide's lack of response on this page. Their only response here was to accept the nomination. If you look at their talk page, it has never been edited by Wikiwide, meaning they have never engaged in their own talk page in 16 years. As badly as we need reviewers, I don't see that Wikiwide has a huge desire to engage here and a key part of the reviewer's role is to engage with the community. Removal of Reviewer status

[edit]

Post requests here regarding any user who you consider has abused reviewer status. Provide a justification for the removal, preferably with examples of where the permission has been abused.

Note for this section, "{{Remove}}" means "support removal of permission", and "{{Oppose}}" means "oppose removal of permission".

I have not used these privileges since I got them. I don't even know how to start a review, I don't see a button for it anywhere. I should not have gotten these privileges to begin with. Never deserved em. I thought I could maybe help save the project but I don't think there is anything else I can do to make an impact here. Sorry. Comment The project would benefit from an additional, active reviewer. The advice and assistance offered by User:Asked42 here would be a great place to start and I am willing to help however I can as well. However, if you truly do not want to participate as a reviewer, that is understandable. Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 15:27, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed my mind. I may try to review after I've spent some more time revising other people's drafts and giving feedback. Lofi Gurl (talk) 17:27, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Good BigKrow (talk) 17:39, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Please feel free to engage as a reviewer. Anthony Albanese recalls Australian Parliament to introduce hate speech and gun laws may be a good first article to review. It is short, with minimal sources, and written by long-standing contributors. Let me know how I can help. I'm sure @Gryllida would also assist you in any way.Michael.C.Wright (Talk/Reviewer) 18:06, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
