[edit]Munchkinguy, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! → CGorman (Talk) 09:18, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Re: Audio Wikinews
[edit]No, it isn't. Sorry, forgot to update that. The background music is the soundtrack to the Wikinews Broadcast edition, which can be found here. --Mrmiscellanious 19:05, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Great job with your first News Brief! Your accent is great. I have a couple of minor comments. First, the music goes on for a little bit too long at the beginning. We probably don't even need music for the briefs, as they are news updates. Second, try to talk a bit faster. The ideal length for an Audio Wikinews News Brief is 2 to 3 minutes total. Great job, and keep up the good work! NGerda 23:35, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Great job from me as well. Your first release was ideal, great time usage - nice tone and speed. Keep up the great work. --Mrmiscellanious 01:25, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- It's fine the way it is now, at least I think. We're more aiming for a 1.5 - 2.5 minute limit for briefs, originally 2 - 3. With Full Reports coming out that are around 5 - 7 minutes long, I found it unnecessary to have briefs be any longer. --Mrmiscellanious 15:37, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Will take a look
[edit]Am short on eyes at the moment... (have several conversations/projects going) but will take a look soonest. - Amgine/talk 02:19, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Nice job...
[edit]We're pushing ahead with some developments at Wikinews:Audio Wikinews. Any chance you can comment on the talk page there? Or just leave me notes so I can try to get up to speed with where you're at... - Amgine/talk

New Main Page design proposal
[edit]I invite you and others to see Main Page Talk, where I have proposed a new Main Page for Wikinews. Best wishes, NGerda 01:47, August 31, 2005 (UTC)
Audio Wikinews podcast feed
[edit]The reason it hasn't been updated is because I've been quite busy (well, it's a good excuse!) :D. I simply can't update it anymore, but if you would like to (and you have a Blogger account), I can give you access to update it on your own (at this time, I can't script up an automatic podcast feed) through the Blogger interface. --Mrmiscellanious 00:51, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- Sounds good! Alright, I'll need your
account usernameemail address and then I'll add you to the list of users who can edit the podcast feed. --Mrmiscellanious 02:08, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
Just wondering why you blanked this article and then tagged with speedy deletion? It is not a candidate for speedy deletion (has significant history, etc.) - Amgine/talk 07:39, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

Sago Mine
[edit]I can't find a source to confirm the 50 citations from the United States Mine Safety and Health Administration that you added to the story. I have other info. from here that I am hesitant to do so because it seems in conflict. -Edbrown05 21:04, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- I researched, and in the absense of hearing from you, made changes according to sources. Best Regards -Edbrown05 21:40, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
image of self
[edit]Umm, we can't really say its fair use/publicity as its not in an article (Fair use/publicity only works for articles). Could you maybe just write on the page that its a picture of yourself and you allowing it to be here? Bawolff ☺☻ 23:45, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Your picture
[edit]...is hilarious! But you might want to consider expanding on it's copyright status, derivate works, use for commercial purpose...--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 01:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Please review this discussion: Wikinews:Water_cooler/policy#User_photo.27s.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 14:50, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- I was actually just going to come here to say that. (refering to Image:ClownMunchkinguy.png. Would you consider slapping some free copyright tag (cc-by, gfdl whatever). The current thing (Publicity) doesn't work, as we can only claim fair use on a photo intended to be used in a news article. Bawolff ☺☻ 22:56, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- hmm, well i geuss it is okay, as its only a user photo, but it is not publicity. Publicity means that it is copyrighted by someone, but we're ignoring the copyright as its newsworthy, and we want to write about it. (or some variation on that) Bawolff ☺☻ 21:59, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I always thought that the person who is the subject (unless in crowd or famous) owns the copyright. (but don't quote me on that) Bawolff ☺☻ 22:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Audio brief
[edit]Very nice! I've uploaded the jingles I used in my latest briefs, in case you wish to use them: Media:Wikinews briefs part of intro.ogg and Media:Wikinews briefs jingle.ogg.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 01:46, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, you seem to have recorded one but you haven't uploaded it yet? There's only a transcript... Please upload it so we can link it.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 09:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Audio Wikinews RSS
[edit]Hi Munchkinguy, I noticed you added the link to the News Brief RSS. If it was you who created it I want to tell you that I created a news RSS as it has not been updated and replaced the links, if you want to restore your (if it was you who created) RSS feed just contact me and I will replace the link to the feed I created with a link to the feed you created. Thanks! --User:Anonymous101 Talk 12:48, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back
[edit]Welcome back to Wikinews (not that I was an active editor when you left). Thanks for creating much needed Audio Wikinews reports. By the way, would you like to be handed back control of the audio Wikinews RSS? I'm happy updating it but have no problem if you would like to update it again. --A101 - (talk) 19:35, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

COMPUTEX articles
[edit]Have you read my comments on editors' blog [1] [2]? Its show schedule is merely close, if you did, what will be the Opening Day (June 3)? (As of my schedule, at least one or two articles should be pushed to lead article template......!!!) In addition, there was one another article related to COMPUTEX was still be abandoned!!! It showed the COMPUTEX was looked down by you or to say, the whole community!!! Brock contact... 06:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I know your difficult, but if using "Breaking News" only in the "opening day", would it be preferable because I will enter and station into the Press Center of COMPUTEX at Nangang Exhibition Hall (See here), and I will receive their official press card next morning in Taipei Time. (That is, 2:00am of UTC Time on 6/2 and 6/3 will have different opening for different shows, 6/2 -> WiMAX Expo Taipei, 6/3 -> COMPUTEX.)
If there will be any latest information, I will post it here as "Breaking News" and hope the community pay more attention, In addition, please read the schedule carefully if anyone want to check my participated seminars or conferences: COMPUTEX Media Schedule, Intel Media Events, WiMAX Expo Taipei Media Schedule.
As I promised to Brianmc, I will try preventing product launch introduction although it's difficult for me since I got several invitations from Intel officials.
On June 2, the D & I award, Green IT Forum (related to environment) and WiMAX Expo Taipei will have new information, I will post mainly about those three ones although a Polish Wikinews Administrator Ala_z waited for my Computex pictures for a long time, in addition, to fulfill the needs of a exposed information streams, I built a portal for this show.
