Welcome [edit]
Rfc1394, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!
- Wikinews:Neutral point of view - tell every side to a story in a fair and balanced way
- Wikinews:Cite sources - everything in a Wikinews article must be sourced
Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:
- Wikinews:Introduction - overview of the site
- Wikinews:Writing an article - how to write and publish a complete article
- Wikinews:Content guide - what's suitable for Wikinews
- Wikinews:Style guide - how articles should look before publishing
- Wikinews:Contents - the contents page.
There are always things to do on Wikinews:
- Existing articles need expanding and checking for spelling and mistakes
- The front page lead articles often need updating
- Developing stories need finishing and publishing
- Discussions need your input
- Audio Wikinews could always use more contributors
- And of course, stories need writing!
By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! -- NGerda July 1, 2005 21:58 (UTC)
Audio Wikinews News brief [edit]
Excellent pronunciation and tone! One minor thing I'd like to suggest, you may want to turn your mic's volume down. That's it! Great job! NGerda July 1, 2005 22:14 (UTC)
- Congrats from me as well! Although I don't think it is that the microphone volume is too loud, but that your mouth is too close to the microphone. Great opening sound clip! --Munchkinguy 5 July 2005 02:33 (UTC)
Upload location [edit]
Hi there. Thanks for recording Audio Wikinews. Since your content is licensed with a free license, you should be uploading it to Wikimedia Commons, and not here. -- IlyaHaykinson 1 July 2005 22:26 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, the links still stay the same. NGerda July 1, 2005 22:27 (UTC)
Audio Wikinews [edit]
You're doing great work on Audio Wikinews! Welcome and thank you! Would you consider joining us in the "real time chat" (link found at the top of your screen) for a few moments? It will be quicker than trying to conduct a conversation over talk pages... --Chiacomo (talk) 2 July 2005 04:14 (UTC)
Audio Wikinews Scripts [edit]
You may have seen this on the water cooler, but if not, please see: Wikinews talk:Audio Wikinews#Standardized Scripting for Briefs and Full Reports --Chiacomo (talk) 2 July 2005 05:29 (UTC)
Your recent Edits [edit]
If you have time could you please join us in the "real time chat" (IRC) for a few mins. --Cspurrier 2 July 2005 20:31 (UTC)
Some tips... [edit]
Please have a look at Wikinews:Writing an article and Wikinews:Reporter's tools for information on writing a story and especially how to properly format sources for an article using the {{source}} template. Oh, and by the way, you needne't use the {{date}} template on pages other than actual news articles -- they're used for sorting published articles and archiving. Transcripts don't require them.... --Chiacomo (talk) 2 July 2005 20:59 (UTC)
- Just make sure you use {{date}} and ==Sources== on news articles, and you're as cool as ice! You've made some great article additions to the site! -- NGerda July 4, 2005 01:45 (UTC)

Audio News, again [edit]
Remember to put in the license details and other things from the template. Template for Spoken Wikinews
Image:Union76.jpg - please source [edit]
please source Image:Union76.jpg. It may be deleted without a source. Bawolff ☺☻ 21:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- the problem is that it needs a link. I'm aware that its from the department of energy and stuff they make is pd, but it needs a link to where on their site the image was from. See Wikinews:Fair use for details (yes I know its not fair use, but policy still applies to the image). Bawolff ☺☻ 21:57, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Audio Wikinews [edit]
Your latest brief was very nice! However, one of the stories about digital music, was a copyvio... Best to check the page history and the original author, and google part of the text to avoid this... We should remove it from the brief also, I'll do it for you if you don't get around to doing so shortly. Also, I've uploaded the jingles I used in my latest briefs, in case you wish to use them: Media:Wikinews briefs part of intro.ogg and Media:Wikinews briefs jingle.ogg.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 21:59, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Our editing style [edit]
Hi! Just a couple things.
I've noticed you're wikilinking dates in the {{source}} template; please don't do that.
I also noticed you're making inline external links in your articles. Please don't do that either. :)
