This is not a category. But we do have Category:Mozilla --SVTCobra 22:09, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello and thank you for your quick response SVTCobra. This is a proposed category in response to this. Perhaps it can be created since there is more than 5 articles on the topic. --Gryllida (talk, chat) 22:12, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but you created this in the article space, not the category space. Anyone can create a new category. Admins are needed for populating the archive. I did see that list. I don't agree with it in principle. Pi zero is of a different mindset. But do we really need categories for Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox? --SVTCobra 22:17, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Renamed this to category talk space. Interesting question, turns out that 15 out of 19 pages listed at Category:Mozilla are Firefox-related. Perhaps a separate category is not needed. --Gryllida (talk, chat) 22:22, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Firefox is pretty much Mozilla's only product of note, that's why. But if you are going to do this, I hope you set up the Category:Mozilla Firefox page with all the customary sister link boxes, etc., etc. --SVTCobra 22:26, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since most of the pages seem to be about Firefox, perhaps best to create a category redirect? Green Giant (talk) 22:38, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We've always avoided category redirects; I've had bad experiences with them, and it turned out bawolff (back when he was still active here) had too. But I see no reason we can't have both categories; our infrastructure should make it easy enough to maintain. --Pi zero (talk) 23:23, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just like how Skype != Microsoft; Mozilla Firefox != Mozilla. Number of articles has nothing to do with the existence of a sub-category separate from parent.

FWIW, 18 of the 19 have to do with Firefox. 15 is the number of times Firefox makes it into the title. --SVTCobra 19:52, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
not good enough not to have a separate, more focused category.

Your opinion is noted. It's just that with every new category, we need to go through the archives again and populate them. In my opinion, we should be more focused on getting news stories published. And now that I've done my civic duty and helped clear some of the backlog, that's where I'll focus my energy. Cheers, --SVTCobra 22:01, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is a concern I have with the template {{fill this category}}. Although I am quit pleased that template {{w}} has made maintenance of categories far more practicable, and allows us to greatly fill out our category hierarchy gradually, over time so that a noticeably higher proportion of wikilinks are now local, I have deliberately been slow in creating these new categories, not to allow it to starve the activities of review and tool development. Template {{fill this category}} makes me uncomfortable because it could increase the weight of category-creation/population relative to other activities. --Pi zero (talk) 22:47, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion has revealed that if this category is created, the list of articles is incomplete. --SVTCobra 20:13, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I support creation of this. Mozilla does a lot of stuff outside of Firefox--Rust, Thunderbird, general activism and work on standards--so this is a very appropriate category. —Justin (koavf)TCM 03:35, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done I also didn't add the Thunderbird article that alluded to Firefox. --Pi zero (talk) 03:38, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
