Google Thinks We Are Wikipedia

[edit]
Image of an example of the error

See the image above. For some (unknown) reason, Google is convinced that we are Wikipedia. I don't really know what we should do about this, but probably something. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 21:01, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Coming soon: A new sub-referencing feature – try it!

[edit]

Hello. For many years, community members have requested an easy way to re-use references with different details. Now, a MediaWiki solution is coming: The new sub-referencing feature will work for wikitext and Visual Editor and will enhance the existing reference system. You can continue to use different ways of referencing, but you will probably encounter sub-references in articles written by other users. More information on the project page.

We want your feedback to make sure this feature works well for you:

Wikimedia Deutschland’s Technical Wishes team is planning to bring this feature to Wikimedia wikis later this year. We will reach out to creators/maintainers of tools and templates related to references beforehand.

Please help us spread the message. --Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 10:36, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, for feedback, can you code a references manager that works with Wikinews references styles, not only Wikipedia. It is quite laborious and is common beginners mistake. @Johannes Richter (WMDE) Gryllida (talk) 11:08, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Gryllida, thanks for your feedback! We are aware that most wikinews language versions don't (or rarely) use footnote references and instead use the reference section per guidelines like WN:SG#Citing your references. But given that some language versions (e.g. jawikinews) do use footnote references, we decided to notify all WN projects anyway, in case they are affected / want to know about this feature.
I'm also aware that a Visual Editor reference manager working with Wikinews reference styles ist a longstanding wish by WN communities. Unfortunately our small WMDE Technical Wishes team needs to move on to a new focus area after finishing our work on sub-referencing. Perhaps this is something you want to submit to the new WMF Community Wishlist? Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 07:32, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
It was already submitted. Could you possibly find where? It was years ago, maybe over 2 or 5 or 10 years ago, and I don't possess a bookmark. Gryllida (talk) 12:01, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I also thought that I once read about a wish like that, but can't find it. Anyway given that the WMF discontinued their annual Community Wishlist Survey in favor of the new Community Wishlist it might be worth giving it another try (also I might be wrong, WMDE is not involved in that). Android push notifications

[edit]

How do i get notifications from this wiki delivered as push notifications on my Android device? Gryllida (talk) 11:06, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Email?!

[edit]

I haven't contacted him off-project in some time, but: Is anyone good friends with User Acagastaya? I need to get into my WN Email account, and have lost log-in credentials. This is problematic.--Bddpaux (talk) 18:32, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
